As New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin pleaded on national television for firefighters - his own are exhausted after working around the clock for a week - a battalion of highly trained men and women sat idle Sunday in a muggy Sheraton Hotel conference room in Atlanta.

But as specific orders began arriving to the firefighters in Atlanta, a team of 50 Monday morning quickly was ushered onto a flight headed for Louisiana. The crew's first assignment: to stand beside President Bush as he tours devastated areas.

So... anyone here not disgusted by the fact that emergency workers who are desperately needed are busy doing a photo op with our photo-tastic president?

1. He obviously wasn't taking pictures. He couldn't be in them if he was. He has his sleeves rolled up. Do you think that he would be doing that if he wasn't working?

You can pretend that President Bush doesn't do anything but he is always in the front line. I remember at the first debate last year in Florida, the President didn't look so hot because he was out helping the hurricane victims move supplies all day, while Kerry was getting a manicure. President Bush isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

2. Dude, the firefighters have to walk to the people they are trying to save. What do you think they have rockets up their butt to fly them where they need to go? Even the trib, as unreliable a paper as that is, stated that the firefighters just arrived.
