How has trying Trump in the court of public opinion and or in NY courts worked out for Dems so far?

Yes you voted for a convicted felon

Nixon was pardon after he was convicted based on the watergate incident.

It seems the optic of having a president behind bars is something the court system does not want to set a presedence for

They the courts are happy if he resigns.

Nixon wasn't convicted.

A person without empathy is probably aligned with MAGA beliefs.

Probably? You are so sure about this that you said "probably." By all means we are waiting for the rest of this thesis.

Good thing you said "probably."

The issue is presidential immunity from criminal activity

Nixon set the bar

Trump made it a necessity

Former presidents did not enjoy broad immunity from criminal prosecution until July 1, 2024, when six members of the Supreme Court created that privilege in Trump v. United States.
Article II, Section 4 established that former presidents had criminal liability, not criminal immunity.
That what you get when right wing judges have to protect republican president name Trump who cannot control himself because he is rich and the president.
I guess all men are not created equally

Article II, Section 4 established that former presidents had criminal liability, not criminal immunity. Even after impeachment, conviction and removal, “the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.”

Ford raised doubts about whether America would be able to give Nixon a fair trial until months, perhaps years, elapsed. That was his justification for pardoning Nixon.

Ted Kennedy was the only senator who was a vocal credit of the pardon

In light of the Trump experience, some historians looked back and saw the Nixon pardon in a new light: as a damaging precedent establishing presidential impunity.
Trump took it the next level and the courts bailed him out. Welll probably the republican selected judges.

Thus all this forgiveness by courts shows that some *Presidents" are above the law because it looks bad for them to go to jail.

Thus the concept of no man is above the law is lip service

Offhand, I'd say about as well as shoving a burning cactus up your own ass.

Which is what makes their continued public displays of arrogant defiance so entertaining.

At the rate democrats are going, by the time Trump's term is finished, they won't have any party left. So how do they respond? By turning even /FARTHER/ Left and stomping the gas pedal to the floor going into Whole Hog Marxism.

What could possibly go wrong? :smoke:
