how do you rank the BEACH boys for greatest bands

How do you rank them against QUEEN or EAGLES ???

Are they as good as the Stones or LED ZEP

I think all those bands are great but in different categories and different times and for different reasons but then, I'm a musician and, for me, a lot of the time I can appreciate the more technical aspects. The Beach Boys had solid harmonies and some well written lyrics. Queen had Mercury, the Eagles were all multi talented and Led Zep was pure rock/blues power. All were exceptional.

The Beach Boys had magnificent harmonies. Truly inspired.

The only other band that would aspire to greatness was the emotionally wrenching Fleetwood Mac. Two of the best albums to ever be produced is Pet Sounds and Rumors.

But the strangest thing about the Beach Boys was that the head of their band, Dennis Wilson became an inadvertent friend of Charles Manson and Manson used to hang out at his place trying to leverage him into gaining access to more important people and is probably lucky to have survived.

Pet Sounds is one of the most influential albums of all time. I recommend everyone listen to it.

They're actually a very good band of talented musicians, but when I think of “the greatest bands” of all time, they usually don't even register on my radar. Not because they aren't great in their own way but because they don't fit into the genres of music I prefer: Classic Rock & Old Time Country (Merle Haggard, George Jones, Willie Nelson, etc.).

Brian Wilson has/had a wonderful ear and mind for beautiful melodies ( pop tunes) and harmonies. For over 50 years at the highest level .
I rate him a Giant just for that .
