NASA's job was to expand the V-2 rocket program and develop our own rockets ... and for the same reason ... the Apollo program was just an obvious cover for ICBM research ... the point was always putting a nuclear bomb in the middle of Red Square, USSR ...
Let private business spend their own money ... and it's already tax deductible ... they don't need tax credits on top of that ...

SpaceX is cheaper than NASA, how will getting rid of the expensive "competition"
make the cheaper product more expensive?

When there is no competition, prices go up. Like with healthcare. They don't want to give the masses basic insurance from the government which would bring prices down. Then CEO's of healthcare companies would have to lower their prices. But then at least they wouldn't get shot in the back Louigi style.
