Our border states are being overrun with the very job destroyers that the democrats profess to want to protect.

Secondly WHY do we need a new immigration policy? Just close the ******* border. We don't need anymore low income riff raff invading our country.

It's called brainwashing or get beat down with how you, (don't care about people, you're not compassionate etc) and the Democrat party does an outstanding job with it on their base of voters

the people has to realize this?
How is adding millions more people (lawbreakers, illegal immigrants) with this economy and job market as it stands today going to HELP any of you legal citizens in this country?

A great question that they will lie in answering, of course, because the truth is they don't give two ***** for either group except as potential votes.

But your average GOP Piggie is no better, sorry to say. The only reason The HOUSE did not write a bill is from fear of repercussions.

I'm not convinced there is a sizeable number of poor Americans wanting the jobs done by illegal immigrants. If there is some study, I'd welcome a link.

If democrats have their way they wont be illegals for long and will then be competing for the same limited resources the American poor seek. Anyone with HALF a brain should be able to figure this out. You numbskulls get a new batch of voters & the poor get the shaft.

you think that out of almost 60 million working-age Americans who are not working.....that there aren't any people who want those jobs....?

In 2007, we had full employment.

Then something happened and millions upon millionS upon millions of Americans were thrown out of work.

Guess what that was?

Hint: It was not a sudden massive influx of job-stealing darkies. We have the same number, if not less, of illegals as we did in 2007.

I know reaching back into your memories all the way to 2007, 2008 is asking an awful lot of you. But I know you can do it.

So, gee, what was it, exactly, that caused all these Americans to lose their jobs? Did they REALLY lose them to Mexicans? I DON'T THINK SO!

An unemployed guy who used to work in a bank didn't lose his job to a lettuce-picking Mexican. I know how badly you want to believe he did, but he didn't.

And that ex-bank employee isn't about to leave his suburban home, get in his Toyota Camry, and drive hundreds of miles to pick lettuce. It's called migrant work for a reason.

I'm sorry to bring reality crashing in like that.

I think you meant to say "Illegal immigration" in the thread title.

A bartender-turned-real estate broker during the credit bubble didn't lose his job to a lettuce-picking Mexican. I know how badly you want to believe he did, but he didn't.

And that ex-real estate broker isn't about to leave his suburban home, get in his Honda Civic, and drive hundreds of miles to pick lettuce. It's called migrant work for a reason.

He might return to bartending again, though!

I'm sorry to bring reality crashing in like that.

Jobless workers in New York line up at a job expo. Unemployed workers need extended unemployment, health benefits and training opportunities.

You can be pretty sure these people didn't lose their jobs to Mexicans.

I'm sorry to bring reality crashing in like that.

No.....he won't be able to return to bartending.....a Mexican took the job......picking lettuce isn't the only thing they can do....

the only group of people that is gaining net new jobs is the legal/illegal immigrants....

Why should caring for both be mutually exclusive?

If you're the GOP, the only traction you gain is by convincing or trying to convince their shrinking base that there is an enemy at their gates.

Case in point; gun owners. The GOP along with their NRA benefactors convinced every Rufus, Skeeter, and Butch that Obama was coming for their guns.

Case in point; homosexual marriages. The GOP along with their Christian Coalition backers convinced their base that there is a threat to THEIR marriage by persons they never met, never will meet, and never meet anyone who knows them.

Immigrants and the poor for that matter fit nicely as threats to their base. What isn't discussed is that a lot of business owners who may be conservatives would rather hire an illegal alien off the books instead of paying a legitimate US Citizen formally.

Easy. Democrats are for "more poor" people, not less poor people. The majority of democrats are relatively poor people, thus democrats have come to believe more poor people is a good thing for their power base. The rich folk in the democrat party also benefit from the various wars on poverty, and flatulence (green house gasses), health care, etc..

Additionally, the really far left folks like Obama and Hillary are excited about the idea of crashing our economy under the weight of their party's poverty plan and then changing us over to the marxist ideal when there is no opposition left. The theory going that a dependent population can be more easily led.
