One, some businesses simply can't afford to pay a new mother 3-4 weeks for not working, much less 12 weeks.
Two, 12 weeks of maternity leave is way too long, but that's what federal employees and most state and local employees get.
IF the business can reasonably afford it, I have no problem with 3-4 weeks of maternity leave. If the business can't afford it, then there should be a tax break for those businesses so they don't suffer financially.
But 12 weeks? No, that's too much.
