'Housing Is A Human Right': Boston Mayor Michelle Wu Makes Affordable Housing Announcement

Tying the worth of a human being - and whether or not you would be okay with them dying in the streets while you watch like a psychopath - to whether they are employed or not is not only ridiculous, but incredibly disgusting in a civil society.

J.K. Rowling was poor, unemployed, and on welfare while writing Harry Potter, one of the greatest children's book series in history. She is now a millionaire because she had a chance.

Your viewpoints are sick. People always have a chance
She didn't have a chance. She saw an opportunity for talent and took it.
I hope she made wise investments because all that talent has been canceled. She made the claim that women menstruate and it destroyed her.

The reason housing is a right is that originally we could pitch camp almost anywhere.
Then people started farming, and started illegally claiming personal ownership of land.
And while we like that since it produces the most food, it illegally deprives other so their basic camping rights.
So some sort of minimum safety net should always be provided for housing.

Nah...all they do is stand on a street corner until they get enough money to buy a bottle or some dope.

Wrong.
They have to drag all their stuff around every where they go, and they have to walk long distances to even just get a drink of water.
The people you see at street corners panhandling, but without a cart, are not at all homeless, but just use panhandling as a job.
I have followed some, and they drive home after the day of panhandling.
And they can't buy a bottle or dope, because they hardly get enough for food, much less booze or drugs.

Some of these people make well over $100 bucks a day.
My mother used to be an alcohol and drug abuse counselor and worked at many homeless shelters.
A large portion of the homeless refuse to stay at the shelters because alcohol isnt allowed.
If they cant manage to stop abusing substances for a place to stay they sure as hell aren't looking for a job which requires them to be sober 5 days a week.

Consider the source.

Housing and Healthcare is a human right. Just like breathing is a human right. So just like you breath all by yourself go out and earn the money for your healthcare and housing all by yourself.

It may be a right but that don't mean it is given to you.
