Household electricity bills have increased by 10% since Donald Trump re-entered the White House

I don't buy their premise because of two big things----data centers are driving up the demand for electricity faster than grids can respond and natural gas costs more because 40% of it gets exported. If we stopped exporting it, the prices would come down. As energy costs rise, the price of renewables without huge subsidies becomes more scaleable.

Cool story but why not simply read the article and THEN comment?

"Electricity prices were 6% higher in May 2025 than in the same month of last year, while gas prices rose by 8% over the same period."
anton what i did is what MANY posters do here.....you included BECAUSE a while back you came into thread and had someone say to you what you said to me....and your reply was you did not want to have disable your ad blocker or register....i agreed with you because thats why i didnt read it....i went by the what the guy posted....and you what?....why would what i said bother the guy?...

Household electricity bills have already shot up nearly 10% since Trump took office, and a study by Climate Power and Energy Innovation warns they could climb even higher if his policies keep gutting clean energy.
When Trump takes money away from clean energy, it means fewer wind turbines, solar panels, and energy-saving programs get built. That makes us keep using more expensive old stuff, like coal and gas, which cost more to run when fuel prices go up. With less cheap clean energy in the mix, power companies have to charge you more for the electricity coming into your house...so your bill gets bigger.

We are still in the Biden energy policy and green energy increases the cost. Wind and solar cost more not less. Its so expensive it has to be subsidized by taxing us. When it cant meet demand surplus energy from other states has to be bought at very high cost.

Thats a long story to simply say you couldn't read it.

From your link. Trump ended "green energy incentives" which means that taxpayers were subsidizing uncompetitive green power producers with borrowed money. Biden added $8.5T to the Debt, Trump ended that scam.

"But studies have found that Trump’s pro-fossil fuel, anti-renewable energy policies will raise prices. A July report from climate thinktank Energy Innovation, for instance, found that the Republicans’ spending megabill that the president signed last month could increase wholesale electricity prices by as much as 74%, largely due to its repeal of many Biden-era green energy incentives."

Renewable energy will always cost more and can never meet demand. Fossil fuels and nuclear are the answer and Trump has put us on track to develop it.

So basicly you agree with what I said.

Trump is a lying asshole who said a lot of bullshit to just to get elected.
anton the difference is you believed him....i look at him as a guy with a big mouth who happens to be his worse enemy...i will believe a politician when they actually do it....

Oh bullshit! The "old stuff" as you refer to it is cheaper than wind turbines and solar panels! The Guardian is a rag that prints propaganda not news!

Trump promissed to lower prices but they have gone up and his policies are contributing to the increases.

Which part of that is not true?

Libs plays dumb to dodge answer he doesn't like.

This thread is about energy prices.
Said energy is being prostituted by opportunists claiming it will 'save the planet', at great expense to virtue signaling fools Anton

do you have any idea how much it costs to run an 'all electric' single fam home, some of which require 300-400 amp servives?

do you have a clue as to the costs of updating electrical infrastructure on a nation scale would $$$$ if everyone did so?

There was no answer, so I'll ask again:

I'm still laughing at how you are playing dumb. Keep it up.

I did a calculation once, of what it would take for the US to sustain JUST converting all vehicles to electric, using wind turbines. If the numbers i got were accurate, it showed that the number of wind turbines needed just to charge electric vehicles would be enough to cover 50% of the land mass of the united states, and thats not including energy needed for everything else.

The result was, that while wind and solar is great because it's "free" energy, its just that the amount of energy they produce is inadequate to power the country.

We would need to at least quadruple the amount of power each wind turbine put out to be able to use them large scale.

Nuclear and coal are our only main options right now

Trump promised to end Biden's war on fossil fuels, and lower energy costs, true.
It takes time to develop more energy supply.
Now add in the huge demand for AI data centers whereby we need to double the nations power generation.
Trump is not subsidizing expensive green generation, i.e. Chinese made solar panels and foreign made wind turbines.
Trump is focusing on nuclear and cheap gas power plants.

Prices went up because Trump ended Biden subsidies for green energy, whereby taxpayers were getting scammed with borrowed money added to the Debt. Trump got energy costs back to reality. There is no free lunch.
