Medicaid foots the bill for illegal aliens coming to the ER to the tune of about 2 billion/yr for California alone. Obviously, controlling illegal immigration and removing illegals from this country would go a long way to helping Medicaid save money. Democrats live in this fantasy world anyone in the world can walk across our border and get “free” healthcare while taxpayers make the payments.

Other than illegals, who is going to actually lose coverage? Able-bodied people without dependents who make over 100% above the poverty level would have to pay a $35 copay for some services. They will also have a work requirement of 80 hours per month which can include volunteer work. Exceptions are made for pregnant women and those with short-term hardships. No more matching funds for gender affirming care and hormone therapy, etc. Spare me the outrage.

What do you fear will be cut? Be specific.

You can’t tax your way out of this problem. Tax increases decrease the GDP. Giving an inefficient government more money doesn’t solve anything. For long term success, the economy should be driven by the private sector, not the public sector. More private sector jobs and more take home pay is the way to stimulate the economy, not these idiotic short-term “fixes” of the federal government spending and printing more and more money and creating more and more bloat by hiring more and more federal employees. Democrats need to get that through their thick skulls.

No taxes on tips or overtime? Boy howdy, that one is going to come back and bite you Trumpnuts in the ass. First, who pays federal income taxes on tips now? I mean you got to be on the high end of the server pay scale to even pay taxes. I would venture less than one in ten. But, those claimed tips, they are FICA taxed, and they are what your future retirement is based on. Does that go away too?

And overtime. Well Trump gets his way, make over thirty grand a year, well you don't get overtime. You become "exempt". Or you can be forced to work 60 hours this week and 20 next, no overtime.

There’s a stark contrast between high-earners and low-income households in a sprawling legislative package House Republicans passed on Thursday.

The bulk of the financial benefits in the legislation — called the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” — would flow to the wealthiest Americans, courtesy of tax-cutting measures like those for business owners, investors and homeowners in high-tax areas, experts said.


However, low earners would be worse off, they said. That’s largely because Republicans partially offset those tax cuts — estimated to cost about $4 trillion or more — with reductions to social safety net programs like Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.

The tax and spending package now heads to the Senate, where it may face further changes.
The Congressional Budget Office, a nonpartisan federal scorekeeper, estimates income for the bottom tenth of households would fall by 2% in 2027 and by 4% in 2033 as a result of the bill’s changes.

By contrast, those in the top 10% would get an income boost from the legislation: 4% in 2027 and 2% in 2033, CBO found.
