House burned July 4th

I moved to Oregon, with family.
I am at my daughter's home , until repairs are concluded.
Using my cell phone isn't pleasant
Trying to get my powerful computer working again.
We were woken up by a passing person who alerted us that the house was on fire.
Cause of fire was fireworks put in garbage can. My sons kids blew $400 of fireworks,and tossed some into a trash can sitting against the wall of the house.
Sure has messed up our lives. I will not post as often until my main computer problem is solved. The system is demanding a password it has never asked for in the past. The smart TV is now showing TV and prime movies, so part of the system is OK.

Thanks for the reply. I am not at all familiar with this area. The fire department gave us $500 and a free night at a great hotel. Losing the house includes notifying my bank various accounts and even my health provider. A lot is being changed
The inside of the house has smoke damage, plus ceiling damage done by the fire department who did a great job putting out the fire. We got a great lesson about fireworks dangers.

Two careless parents not closely watching the kids who dumped their fireworks into the trash can against the house. My son told them to put it against the fence so he gets blame as well.
I am 320 miles from that house.

Oh well, it got me off the dime as far a home renovations I needed to do. New paint, flooring, windows/doors, and a new deck so I'll be GTG till my dirt nap.

I can feel your pain. About ten years ago my house froze and had fairly extensive water damage. Five months and $40K later, if was as if it never happened. Sure glad I kept those insurance premiums up.

Wild fires in our overall general area(including the Idaho panhandle) are of major concern for us locals, like we are currently in the start of the fire season so we are glued to the wild fire maps. Have you heard about the 2K acre fire near Northport? Photos on the news last night were pretty scary. Level 3 evacs.

That 2K fire has spread to 3200 acres!!! That entire area around the Hope Fire is loaded with conifer trees & HEAVY underbrush, like even if the conifer trees are wet those pine/fir needles & bark will still burn like tall incendiary torches. The below link says the hope fire is currently within15 miles of Kettle Falls. The good news is that the fire is on the west side of the Columbia river. The bad news is that the Columbia river is only about 900 feet wide in that area. Again, the good news is the wind is travelling N/W @ CURRENT.

That area is so rugged like all mountains/hills & VALLEYS & those valleys is where the winds speed up. The fires in all those valleys create those heat induced fast travelling winds & even fire tornadoes. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Sure hope it's not another incident of another "activist kook fire", like the west plains fire(Gray Fire) that came close to burning the town of Medical Lake & it's surrounding community.
