The loss of life through violence is as old as humans has inhabited the planet. In the case of Palestinians. Humans in that era go back thousands of years. That is a long time to get the footprint of your ways of living as the major cemented. Civility in human civilization needs to take hold at some point. I can't get out of my head the woman who was burned to death on the subway in New York City by an insane asshole.
It's something completely unthinkable. She just stands there, not trying to knock down the fire, just shuffling from foot to foot while the flames literally devour her. Doesn't even scream. It's like she doesn't feel anything or realize what's happening. Not a single action to survive. There are people around who are also doing nothing, one is even filming. The cop literally walks by almost waving his hand.
The criminal comes up and waves his jacket at her to burn more and no one tries, or rather does not know how to do anything. Neither the woman for her own salvation, nor those around her for her. On the video it did not get to the moment, when some movement began and the burning woman began to be rescued. But even this short piece was enough to realize that something is very wrong with all the participants of the tragedy. Literally catastrophically wrong...
