Honda and Nissan to merge?

the problem with nissan is they use jatco transmissions which are prone to fail and their CVT is even worse
jatco is a japanese company which makes this suprising

I can't find where they have a plant in Japan, just2 in Red China, 1each in Mexico and Thailand. Usually the quality control sucks in any plant outside of Japan and Korea, regardless of the company, with a few exceptions.

A list of who they make transmissions for:

Pretty long list.

possible they don't even have a plant in Japan anymore, what makes toyota and honda way more reliable is they design and build their own, they don't outsource

When you use a switch in Japanese company built vehicle, they feel robust. Other car companies feels like the switches are gonna snap, especially Ford's.
