Socialism does again. Mustn’t have done it right, part 674,594. Can’t fabricate a market for something people don’t want.

The manufacturers agreed in April 2022 that they would combine powers to slash the battery costs on eco cars and develop vehicles below GM’s $30,000 Chevrolet Equinox. The partnership was intended to compete with Elon Musk’s Tesla which has aggressively cut prices this year.

But today Honda CEO Toshiro Mibe confirmed the project had been cancelled, citing cost and logistical challenges.

He told Bloomberg: ‘After studying for a year, we decided that this would be difficult as a business, so at the moment we are ending development of an affordable EV.

‘GM and Honda will search for a solution separately. The project itself has been cancelled.’

Honda confirmed the news did not change its ambition to only sell electric vehicles by 2040.

I seriously doubt it ever happens but it is important to note. Honda is not giving up EV plans, just a joint one with GM.

In the eco-socialists' wet dream you buying your first car should be as expensive as buying your first house. Hey, take public transportation you worker drones and save up for a car in your later years. And for god's sake if the thing catches on fire get away from it - the fire department won't even go near the things.

“Ambition”

Buzz word to appease you mindless sheep, and it obviously worked.

Anyone who knows business sets knows better.

How do you make a cheap EV when half the weight of the car is made of blocks of precious metals like cobalt, lithium, nickel and copper?

And the drive is made of massive DC synchronous motors which must operate in splashing water, mud, dust, dirt and snow in freezing cold and blazing heat?

And in 5 years you need to buy a $22,000 battery.

Well the waiting list is authentic...but your "Can’t fabricate a market for something people don’t want” rant does explain why you can’t get laid.
More money than brains. Meanwhile in Hot Wheels news:

The second day of Formula E testing has been canceled after a fire brought the first day of running at Valencia’s Circuit Ricardo Tormo to an early halt.

After Robert Shwartzman’s DS Penske stopped on track in the morning session, the car’s battery was removed by supplier Williams Advanced Engineering. It subsequently caught fire, resulting in a paddock evacuation and one WAE staff member being taken to a local hospital as a precaution. […]

The fire is the first incident of its kind in Formula E’s 10-season history, but follows one at July’s World Rallycross event at Lydden Hill in the UK which destroyed Special ONE Racing’s cars and equipment, ruling it out for the remainder of the season.

Just a joint one with GM that was attempting to develop an EV they could sell for less than $30K

EV's... like solar and wind have a niche. That niche is not a total replacement of fossil fuels. That won't happen. It's just math.

I personally think hydrogen will replace all of them, but in any case, fossil fuels are on their way out. Your math doesn't mean shit (and is shit besides).

Given you have never made an effort at doing the math while I have, I think you will be quite surprised with where this ends up going.

As for hydrogen it would be a great solution if the energy required to break the bond with oxygen didn’t exceed the energy from using the hydrogen as a fuel. The safety concerns can be managed.
