Do you think the executive branch has the power constitutionally to demand information from a private entity, be it a school or business, about their clients, its customers, without the govt showing there was probable cause, to do so?

And Trump is just making up excuses to do this harm to Harvard...saying they didn't bow down and give him the names and info on all the international students attending Harvard, when the govt already has that information at their fingertips through the applications and acceptances of the Student Visas they had to get to attend Harvard.

The US Government has the right to grant or deny research funding based on an organization’s compliance or non compliance with policy it dictates and has been doing this long before Trump. If the Trump administration wants information outside what is typically required under the law, they need to go to a judge and have him sign of on that request. The thing that always strikes me about these discussions is that it rarely is about the right to say and act how you want within the bounds of the law.
