I am no supporter of Iran and they definitely need to be confronted. However, the impulse for some to just go to war is insane. Iran is doing what Reagan used to do and which America should do, fund proxies. The problem is for some there is no hardware cash to be made with rifles and grenades they want the expensive stuff, the bombs, jets and aircraft carriers!
Now, I am one of the biggest proponents for a strong America. Your economy, first and foremost, your military and your long-term sovereignty. However, I am thoughtful and sage enough to understand that war should be the last resort, not the first.
Hit the proxies hard and often, hit Iranian interests in the region without striking them directly. Fund opposition parties in Iran in the effort to force the regime to change course, or, even lose their positions. Direct war must be left to the end, especially with Ukraine and Israel already at war. We can support Israel by hurting Irans proxies, we can support Ukraine directly and by convincing the rest of the world to do more.
These immediate calls to drop bombs on Iran are from those who never have to face the fire.
You want to know the easiest way to avoid war? Make it MANDATORY conscription for any war passed by congress. Rich or poor ,your kid is going to war. Make it so that even those who have medical reasons can contribute overseas in other, non-combat roles. You would see FAR less desire for war as a first option.
They did that. The rich kids got "college deferrals", the poor kids were sent to Viet Nam.
