Should we take cell phones out of school? Is it even possible anymore?

Some of y'all sound like the students whining as if they can't live without their precious cell phones. As I frequently remind them, life went on before the little electronic pains in the ass came along. If family really needs to be contacted, students can go to the main office where they will be assisted in placing a call. If a student has a physical condition, he or she can go to the nurse as often as necessary to receive any required treatments or medications. Nobody NEEDS to text their girlfriend, listen to music all day, or take pointless selfies and the like.

You need to quit, obviously

You keep talking about how useful and non-disruptive cell phones are in the classroom and everyone who knows better will have fun thinking that.

I give that speech at least three times per week.
.

Why do I have to find anyone to substantiate the successes I have had in my classroom? I'm flattered that you think I'm a kid but fact is, I'm past middle age and very good at my job. You just keep flailing about and guessing.
Is that why the average math score in the United States has fallen off the cliff? I am receiving engineer trainees who have degrees and are unable to hand calculate important parameters power systems. It makes me wonder how the hell they got that piece of paper saying that they are proficient enough to be called an engineer.
