Hillary Clintion Leads by 1.7 Million in Popular Vote. More than both JFK's and Carter's Victories

She's "ahead" by 1.7MM, yet she "won" CA by 3MM.

What's that tell you?

The 3 million is a projection. There are still 2 million votes to be counted as of the 22nd.
The likely figure is about 2.5 to 2.9 million.

MM? That the metric system is almost twice as popular in California?

Actually 1.7 million was the count when the thread started. It's over 2.1 now.

More tellingly, the percentage margin is 1.6. Nobody's ever been put into office with that big a margin without Congress getting involved because the EV couldn't be worked out.

She won all 55 electoral votes in California what more do you want?

Personally I'd want Californians to be represented the way they actually voted. Along with everybody else. I seriously doubt the entire state voted for Hillary unanimously. That's insane. We surely didn't do that here and yet ---- according to pattern, Rump will get all our votes. Insane.
IN that case, Clinton took 39 of the 64 counties. Or 60.4%...Meaning instead of 5 EC votes, she would have taken 33. Ok, have it your way.
After all, you said so yourself. You's like to see Californians to be represented the way they actually voted.
Winner take all cuts both way

Sure, if you do it by county, which there's no logical reason to do. An individual person has no control over how county lines are drawn. But there's no reason to parcel up into artificial man-made segments at all.

Others have suggested (and Maine and Nebraska already do this) that the EC vote according to Congressional district. That seems to inch toward genuine representation --- at least it backs away from the absurd idea that literally everybody in a state voted unanimously for the same person --- but the issue with that is how districts are ridiculously gerrymandered. My state is a clusterfuck for that.

Just keep the proportional representation as the voters did it, since we're so enamored of the idea of giving the unwashed the impression that their vote actually means something. Perhaps that translates to 33/55 for Clinton and 22/55 for Rump in California, I don't know what the total numbers are and I don't think they're done yet. Whatever. The numbers fall wherever they will --- that's the voters' decision.

There are still some stragglers wandering around here who don't get the point that it's not a matter of "who wins under what system". It's a matter of having one's vote actually count rather than just being thrown away. That's what it's always been about.

If the electoral college voters have a conscience, they will do the right thing and give the election to Clinton. There is NOTHING in the Constitution that prevents the EC voters from choosing the legitimate winner, which is Clinton. In fact, the framers of the Constitution never intended for the winners of the most states or electorally strategic states to be President. The framers of the Constitution intended for the electoral college voters to vote based on the will of the majority of Americans, which is Hillary Clinton. This article from a Harvard law school professor says it all:

The Constitution lets the electoral college choose the winner. They should choose Clinton.

You want a war? Deny the voters the President they elected, Trump.

There are still over 3 million votes left to count in California. Therefore, Clinton's victory will be over 2 million votes, possibly over 3 million votes.

This is a sad time for democracy in the United States. We have to deal with the corrupt racist and misogynist bully Trump for at least 4 years because of some nonsense known as the electoral college, which no other democracy in the world is stupid enough to have.
We're a Republic, not a mob rule Democracy.

Hilly won 57 counties, Trump won over 3,000.

Republic, not Democracy

Counties don't vote, dumb ****. People do. And most people, by far, voted for Clinton. Hundreds of Repug goober counties with 100 ******* people in states like Kansas and North Dakota don't mean a damn thing compared to LA, Chicago, and New York City.

Clinton's lead is over 2 million votes. She has a 1.5% point lead. Clinton is the rightfully elected President of the United States. **** the electoral college and **** all of you Repug goober ****

16 years ago Bush received more electoral votes than Gore. You didn't do a damn thing in the last 16 years to change it! You are a real dumb shit.

Bush didn't win the popular vote OR the electoral college vote. Florida was stolen from Gore and that is the simple truth. So go **** yourself, dumb ass.

Clinton's 1.5%, 2 million vote lead over Trump says otherwise, assfuck.

In your strange opinion, he didn't but just because you are an idiot and don't live in a real world.

Please quit taking drugs.

The Constitution is what we go by. If you want to change the rules, change the Constitution. Quit being a spoiled baby that didn't get his way.

The electoral college prevents New York, San Jose and Los Angeles from dominating the will of the rest of the country who may have other needs than people who live in these big population centers. Why is this even a thread? If Hillary wants to go to the White House, she can pay her way as a tourist like everyone else and stand in line.

Its a thread because the liberals are cry babies and throw temper tantrums when the don't get their way. Most people that don't get their way just move on.
