Hillary and Margaret Sanger

And what did Martin Luther King say about Margaret Sanger?

"There is a striking kinship between our movement and Margaret Sanger's early efforts. She, like we, saw the horrifying conditions of ghetto life. Like we, she knew that all of society is poisoned by cancerous slums.

Like we, she was a direct actionist - a nonviolent resister. She was willing to accept scorn and abuse until the truth she saw was revealed to the millions.

At the turn of the century she went into the slums and set up a birth control clinic, and for this deed she went to jail because she was violating an unjust law. Yet the years have justified her actions. She launched a movement which is obeying a higher law to preserve human life under humane conditions.

Margaret Sanger had to commit what was then called a crime in order to enrich humanity, and today we honor her courage and vision; for without them there would have been no beginning. Our sure beginning in the struggle for equality by nonviolent direct action may not have been so resolute without the tradition established by Margaret Sanger and people like her.

Negroes have no mere academic nor ordinary interest in family planning. They have a special and urgent concern."

Yeah, nutters, good luck trying to turn blacks against Hillary Clinton.

So anyone who uses birth control or wants it to be legal and available is a racist?

Of course not, but anyone who declares that blacks are not fully human and should be eliminated is clearly a racist.

She never said that. How many times to you have to be told.

"We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members"

Cain’s False Attack on Planned Parenthood

Sanger says that a minister could debunk the notion, if it arose, that the clinics aimed to “exterminate the Negro population.” She didn’t say that she wanted to “exterminate” the black population. The Margaret Sanger Papers Project at New York University says that this quote has “gone viral on the Internet,” normally out of context, and it “doesn’t reflect the fact that Sanger recognized elements within the black community might mistakenly associate the Negro Project with racist sterilization campaigns in the Jim Crow south, unless clergy and other community leaders spread the word that the Project had a humanitarian aim.”

It goes on to characterize beliefs such as Cain’s as “extremist.” The project says: “No serious scholar and none of the dozens of black leaders who supported Sanger’s work have ever suggested that she tried to reduce the black population or set up black abortion mills, the implication in much of the extremist anti-choice material.”

Many democrat slave owners believed they were actually helping their black slaves too....

You mean like Robert E. Lee, conservatism's greatest hero?

But since you are making it political, why not discus why it is todays Republicans who support the values of Confederate America.......states rights, rebel flag, denial of civil rights

what's wrong libs, the truth too much to deal with? Cat got your tongues?
Hey Fish, if you ever get in a bind for cash, you could always get into agriculture and hire yourself out as a manure spreader!

Reconcile that bogus trash you cited in the OP with these ACTUAL QUOTES not from Roman Catholic and/or radical pro-life sites:
A sickly race is a weak race. As long as Negro mothers die in childbirth at two and one-half times the rate of white mothers, as long as Negro babies are dying at twice the rate of white babies, colored homes will be unhappy. ~~http://womenshistory.about.com/od/quotes/a/margaret_sanger.htm~~
Negro participation in planned parenthood means democratic participation in a democratic idea. Like other democratic ideas, planned parenthood places greater value on human life and the dignity of each person. Without planning at birth, the life of Negroes as a whole in a democratic world cannot be planned. ~~Ibid~~
What hangs over the South is that the Negro has been in servitude. The white southerner is slow to forget this. His attitude is the archaic in this age. Supremacist thinking belongs in the museum. ~~Ibid~~
I can see more horseshit flying already from your piles to spew Fish!

Do you get it, African americans? Do you understand?
I am happy to be the recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award -

“Words are inadequate for me to say how honored I was to be the recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award,” Martin Luther King Jr. wrote to the Planned Parenthood Federation in 1966. “This award will remain among my most cherished possessions.”

King’s acceptance speech for that award, “Family Planning — A Special and Urgent Concern,” makes it very clear that, no, you may not claim to be an heir to King’s moral vision while fighting against access to contraception as a component of universal health care.

And that is a lie.....STates Rights are part of the Constitution and limit a too powerful Central government......the democrats tried to use states rights to violate the Bill of Rights when they owned slaves......then, to put the power structure back into balance, the federal government had to step in....now...the federal government is taking too much power for itself and the states have to make claim to their rightful power.....

and the only one violating civil rights are the democrats........

the Rebel Flag.....the democrats flew it to keep slavery....some misguided republicans see it as a way to protest a too powerful central government......they see it as a way to express support for the Bill of Rights....the democrats saw it as a symbol of slavery...

Nice try....

See what I mean about RW'ers building piles of horseshit trying to make them look like the truth?

The ridiculous right and their equally ridiculous canard about Sanger.

It's like I said the other day, they can't win against the truth, so all they do is build great piles of horseshit and try to make them look like the truth.
And what’s both sad and amusing is most on the right think people actually believe their ridiculous lies, this moronic thread one of many examples.

The disgusting thing is they recycle the horseshit that has been totally and thoroughly debunked and trashed ...

When you read between the lines of this thread, you see that there are many on the Right who do in fact want to outlaw birth control.

Why else would they try to characterize it as racist?

The unfortunate thing is that they are taking words out of context of not only the larger statement, but of the time.

Sanger did have some goofy views on Eugenics, but the thing was, in the first half of the 20th century, this was considered to be solid science. at least until Hitler bastardized the science of it and used it as an excuse to murder people. (He also used Christianity as an excuse, but no one says anything about that for some reason.)

The whole black genocide thing that these nuts drag out on a regular basis is just one component of their delusional belief that someday somehow they're going to turn black America conservative and start winning the black vote.
