High Divorce Rate in the United States

I'm engaged to a gorgeous and successful woman. We both have great careers and plan on a wedding next year. I have known her long enough to know she loves me for who I am and not for how much I'm worth financially.

That is one of the benefits of being a fry cook at Wendy's, you know nobody is marrying you for your money

No offense intended, but why are you two getting married? Do you plan to have children? If so, who's career will become secondary to their welfare?

We have discussed having kids but not who's career will be affected.

Yeah, well you’re wrong.

That the USA is more religious than other developed countries is a matter of common knowledge
It would be more correctly to say the US has more church-goers and people who affiliate themselves with a religion.

The Middle East has far more folks that affiliate themselves with religion.

Men being respected and women being cherished sounds like a formula to keep women quiet and infantilized

I am not really sure why I would not respect my wife and why she would not cherish me. Seems both sides should respect and cherish each other.

What are you basing this knowledge on?

You went to Paris and saw a church?

Statistically, the USA is much more religious than other western, developed nations.

Some things are simply facts, not opinions
Do you have a link to your statistics?

Why do you people demand “links” for what is general knowledge information. Out of all western, developed nations it is well known that the USA is the most religious

Religion, church attendance, etc has been much lower in Western Europe, Australia, Canada etc. for a couple generations now

How do you work out how religious a country is? Many religious people do not attend a church, they feel more comfortable practicing their religion at home or out for a walk or by tending to a garden. How do you measure commitment to a religion? In the UK on forms, I say I'm CofE, Church of England. Just out of habit from upbringing but I don't practice or attend church. I'm actually agnostic but the stats say CofE.

So imo, to say how religious a country is is subjective. So it would be interesting to read an article on how they managed to determine how religious a country is.

The red chart is the nearest I found -

And did you notice that the USA is a darker shade of red than almost every other developed country?
No I didn't. I noticed the USA is about "Less than Average to Average". Are you looking in the right area? Can you see the difference between you and Mexico? Can you see you're the same as Spain?

It could be your monitor screen playing up.
