I don't think however that's a bad measuring stick. Since things don't have to be "egregious racism" to disadvantage black people.

There are plenty of studies that show that black people get comparatively harsher punishments for similar crimes. I'm not sure that's a function of racism or economics. Worse legal representation causes worse outcomes. But it is racially tied. Just one example and I can name several.

The point is this. To this day a black person is more likely to be poor. Come from a broken home, and have a worse education. And the roots of those problems lay in slavery and continue to this day.

But blacks are worse off NOW than they were 50 years ago. They had more intact families, relied less on welfare, started up businesses more, and so forth.

So why would they be doing better 100 years after slavery and worse 150 years after?

Mandatory separation in waiting rooms, ticket windows, elevators, water fountains, and restrooms?

Railroad companies required to provide separate cars for Black and white passengers?

Segregated public schools, libraries, and nursing homes?

Restrictive covenants barred African Americans from buying homes in certain neighborhoods?

Poll taxes, literacy tests, and grandfather clauses?

Intermarriage between races forbidden?

Segregation in hospitals, asylums, and jail cells?

Yes, it may seem I say black women are weak, but actually they are overworked and really have no easy path to move forward. Welfare is their version of work.

True - which shows it’s largely a lack of fathers in the home that correlates to high poverty and high crime - not racism, and not slavery. When whites have babies out of wedlock, they too struggle paying the bills and the kids don’t turn out as well. But of course they don’t have slavery to blame.

So it’s not slavery from two centuries back that is currently causing problems among the black underclass, it’s the 73% illegitimacy rate. And since blacks have around twice the rate as whites, they have twice the rate of poverty and crime.

I think people of any race can study history and come to conclusions based on the facts. If anything, the race would cause bias.
