'A promise kept: More than 80K coal mining jobs lost during Obama’s tenure'

"Hillary Clinton may be best known to a majority of American voters for being a liar, but the guy currently in charge at the White House can at least lay claim to a bit more honesty. Barack Obama made one promise during his original drive to the White House which he’s clearly made good on. As the Daily Caller reports, the President told us up front that he was going to bankrupt large sectors of the coal industry through global warming regulations and he’s delivered on that pledge in a big way."

"This Labor Day, America has 83,000 fewer coal jobs and 400 coal mines than it did when Barack Obama was elected in 2008, showing that the president has followed through on his pledge to “bankrupt” the coal industry."

This time, though, U.S. coal production is going down, not up. China’s slowing imports of the fuel are one reason. A bigger one is the boom in cheap natural gas, which has taken market share from coal at power plants and will probably keep doing so.

“The shale revolution has driven natural-gas prices so low that it makes sense for utilities to switch fuels,” William Foiles and Andrew Cosgrove, Bloomberg Intelligence analysts, said in a recent note. “More coal miners will likely find themselves out of work.”

What Cheap Gas Did to Tens of Thousands of Coal Jobs

The pseudocons promised us Obama would drive gasoline to six bucks a gallon.

Not much time left, rubes!

Although our German energy bases on natural resources (50 %), the Ruhr area is a hotspot of unemployment. Mines were not closed due to market conditions but the regime forced their destruction. Now, they are filled with water and sealed with concrete to be never used again while incredible amounts of coal are imported each day.

Obama was supposedly the one who said he wanted to drive the price of gas up...It was fracking that drove the price down. Saudi / Opec dropped the price down to drive frackers out of business...Had it not been for fracking...And Obama had no part in creating those oil jobs.

The frackers brought the Saudi's to their knees, bankrupted Venezuela and turned the oil industry on it's ear. Obungles didn't have a thing to do with it

Is this guy a pseudocon?

In a Dec. 12, 2008, article, the Wall Street Journal said Chu “has called for gradually ramping up gasoline taxes over 15 years to coax consumers into buying more-efficient cars and living in neighborhoods closer to work.” The story noted the interview with Chu took place in September 2008, when Chu was in charge of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California.

Chu, September 2008: Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.

80,000 coal jobs lost, eh?

Gee, that's a fair trade.

In fact, due in large part to the oil and natural gas industry, theTexas Comptroller estimates that Texas has recovered 100 percent of the jobs lost during the Great Recession and has added 597,000 above the previous peak in August 2008.

And that's just Texas!

How many jobs has the oil and natural gas industry created?

All of those jobs were created by private enterprise in spite of the road blocks and regulations Obama put in place to try to kill them

So a tard tried to blame Obama for lost jobs. And now they try to deny him creidt for creating jobs.

You rubes are as transparent as the vodka you imbibe in mass quantities.

A tard is someone who tries to give Obama credit for something he was adamantly opposed too.

The pathological liar, aka the OP, doesn't point out that over the same period of time, in the energy sector,

over 170,000 jobs were ADDED in the natural gas, wind, and solar sectors.

The causes of the coal industry's struggles have already been pointed out to rubes like the tard who started this topic countless times, but the sick masochistic bastards just keep coming back for more punishment.

I busted your ass about this yet want to post the same b.s.?, the reason why natural gas is cheaper, is because of all the Damn regulations and laws put on coal by the EPA in the past 30 years and obama expanded it times 10.

Take away all the regulations and laws put their by screaming tree huggers

Lets see what's cheaper natural gas or coal.

Since when does coal miners pollute?

Coal power plants? What's the problem? We still don't have the technology for a alternative source that's worth a Damn.Jesus we have enough coal under RDerps house up alone to last us a life time.

llinois' recoverable reserves of coal are larger than those of any state east of the Mississippi River and the third largest in the country, behind only Montana and Wyoming. About 200 billion tons of coal are estimated to lie underground in the state[/QUOTE ]

Those natural gas jobs were added in spite of Obama's opposition by the oil companies and wind and solar energy jobs are subsidized with taxpayers money.
