The figures also mirror the political dividing line that runs right down the middle of the city, separating the conservative west from the Left-leaning east.
Most gay marriages - 72 percent - took place in arrondissements with Socialist mayors east of that line, with around a third of the total celebrated in the 4th arrondissement, which is home to the Marais area. Marais has in recent years become one of the most fashionable neighbourhoods of Paris, packed with designer boutiques and the capital’s biggest concentration of gay bars.

You DO realize that 90 percent of the human race is straight, and 10 percent or less are gay? Sorry................but gay marriage in and of itself isn't going to bring out the decline of France. Their economy is decent, and they seem to be doing okay.
