Yes, there is more to the South and the south's relationship with the legacy of the civil war, than just honoring the service of the veterans.
And all of that was assimiliated into the larger identity of AMERICAN PATRIOTISM, generations ago.
really the nail in the coffin of that...division, was WWII, where we all fought as one.
Historically, the civil war, the South as a hostile region, or the Yankees working to keep anyone down, that seems to be ended sometime during wwi.
