Hearsay? Yes or no?

This guy did it I am sure but I am not sure I like how they convicted him.

Jury convicts Drew Peterson of 3rd wife's death - Yahoo! News

normally any out of court statement used for its truth or falsity where the deponent is not available to be cross-examined is hearsay.

in this case, the statements were made an exception to the hearsay rules by 'drew's law' which was passed specifically for this case.

so technically it's not hearsay under the law.

but it's a very bad law.

Leave it to Illinois to pass another fucked up law.

Media pressure can do wonders. It got OJ off and it turned a murder trial into a soap opera.

If you understood the law you would know why.
