Where the hell are you getting "affordable?" The average American will pay 41% more for health care coverage under Obamacare. Tell me, why do you hate your fellow Americans?

The Rs will need to keep Obamacare state optional after 2017. They will win in 2014 and 2016 on the unpopularity of this POS but not their popularity vs. that of the Ds and phase out the subsidy over say 20 years to in effect gerrymander the nation. Creating a 15 state blue magnet for voters and a 35 state red magnet for investment will bring home the bacon with a vengeance. That way if there is a serious split in the party the damage will be limited.

These things are true, or have elements of the truth.

It's too bad Democrats chose to create such bad legislation instead of doing the work needed to create legislation they could pass without lying about it. If they had taken the time necessary to bring the majority of Americans on board with the legislation in an honest manner, they would also have been giving themselves time to examine the obvious consequences of some of their proposals and they would have jettisoned more of the bad ones. That could have brought more citizens on board. That would have brought moderate Republicans on board and the product would have been better all around.

Instead they pushed through something so horrible that they had to lie about it to get it through. That very act was evil. The fact that it's failing so badly almost seems like karma. But in fact it's a natural consequence of the flawed process they used to create it.

There _was_ a need.

It's sad that they wasted the opportunity to do something good and instead chose something so expensive and destructive.
