It was nearly 50 years ago when I was in college, and took dystopian literature for my fun and easy alternative to all the harder stuff, but yes.

It seemed epic to me when I was 17, but I'm sure it was drivel.

In my opinion, situation could be much worse. I have written very few Dystopian short stories. Perhaps this style is more valuable then nanoessays.
