Why yes. It has. MAGA!

Seriously though, I never thought I would see this.

Source: What Is Fascism?

Many experts agree that fascism is a mass political movement that emphasizes extreme nationalism, militarism, and the supremacy of the nation over the individual. This model of government stands in contrast to liberal democracies that support individual rights, competitive elections, and political dissent.

In many ways, fascist regimes are revolutionary in nature. They advocate for the overthrow of existing systems of government and the persecution of political enemies. However, such regimes are also highly conservative in their championing of traditional values.

And although fascist leaders typically claim to support the everyman, in reality, their regimes often align with powerful business interests.

Sound familiar? It should.

Existing forms of government are being overthrown through the destruction of our institutions with the Executive usurping powers traditionally given to Congress and openly defying the courts when checked.

Note the last line: aligned with powerful business interests: Musk (who is raking in millions in government contracts), Bezos, Zuckerberg.

Characteristics of Facism:

Extreme Nationalism - check.

Fascist leaders believe in the supremacy of certain groups of people based on characteristics such as race, religion, ethnicity, and nationality.

Cult of personality - check.

Fascist regimes cultivate images of their leaders as great figures to be loved and admired. This cult of personality is often perpetuated through mass media and propaganda. …The Pope chalked up Il Duce’s survival of assassination attempts to divine intervention, adding to Mussolini’s mystique.

How did Fascists come to power? This is interesting, because it tracks what has actually been happening.

“It wasn’t overnight. History laid the groundwork – a pattern of liberal decay.

First, fascist parties gained a foothold in government through initially democratic means. However, over time, the party consolidated power, and ultimately secured their dictatorship.”

Note: Trump is seeking ways for a 3rd term and a Congressman is creating a bill to create a path to a 3rd term that only applies to Trump’s situation.

What Is Fascism?

According to this source there are 5 stages of Fascism.

Stage 1: Emerging out of disillusionment

Covid lockdowns, economic downturn and supply chain meltdowns, inflation, political instability (false claims of 2020 election fraud), etc.

Economic crisis spurs a nationalist political movement blaming immigrants and ethnic minorities for the country’s turmoil.

Stage 2: Establishing Legitimacy as a Political Party

The Trumpification of the Republican Party

Popular mobilization

fascist regimes seek to energize public participation in society through government-organized channels. Both Mussolini and Hitler, for instance, drew massive crowds in rallies intended to stir up enthusiasm for the country, the party, and the leader.

Trump has the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers as his “Blackshirts” – fascist citizen militias loyal to Trump. Trump has also pardoned them from any crimes or violence on his behalf and made it clear his DoJ will not prosecute them for anything in the future . In addition to those more organized militias he has a fervent and large core of MAGA followers willing to commit populist violence on his behalf. January 6 is the defining moment for the movement.

Of note, like Mussolini’s Fascism – Trump’s fascist militants have skirmished with groups like ANTIFA, and leftist protestors (labeled socialists and Marxists) protesting his policies.

Like other Fascist groups, the MAGA movement also blames specific groups for the country’s seeming demise and undermining efforts to make America Great AGAIN.

Immigrants (not just illegal immigrants), Black People, DEI, Transgender people.

Why no, I understand it. We all tend to fling the term loosely at each other. This isn’t that.
People want to try excusing what's going on. This is for real fascism happening. The Republican party had slowly been moving toward this for at least the last 30 years, beginning with Gingrich. And all along those calling it out got what you got from Unkotare.

That sounds like the Democrats, except for the "extreme nationalism"
Republicans are patriotic, not "extreme nationalists.
Seems I read on this very board today about a democrat talking head advocating for the trashing of the constitution. Hmmmm.
"The American Jacobin: How Some on the Left have Found Release in an Age of Rage
I also don't recall Republicans calling for and advocating violence against an opposition candidate or the destruction of a legal American company, their products and those who purchase and use those products. Sounds exactly like her definition of fascism. Saul Alinsky would be proud of Coyote.

I'll reply with your own words you said to me:

"And if you even begin to really believe they are the same, then you're a dunce. That's saying it nicely."
