Testimony from a detainee at Rakevet Prison:
An underground hell consuming the bodies of Gaza’s prisoners
1. The Arrest Journey:
- Arrested on November 16, 2023, at the Netzarim checkpoint and transferred to Israeli military barracks in Gaza amid humiliation and torture.
- Detainees were blindfolded, handcuffed, and forbidden from speaking or moving.
2. Interrogation at Ofer Prison:
- Subjected to a harsh interrogation lasting one and a half months, involving psychological tactics, simulated torture, and polygraph ("lie detector") tests.
3. Hellish Sections in Ofer Prison:
- Section 23: Daily beatings and insults, denial of food and hygiene.
- Section 10 (Isolation): Overcrowded, airless cells, constant repression, and detainees restrained for most of the day.

4. The Underground Rakevet Detention Facility:
- Opened on September 10, 2024, inside Nitzan Prison; Gaza detainees were transferred there after being beaten and tortured.
- Cramped cells (3×2 meters) housing four detainees each; mattresses are removed daily, forcing prisoners to sit directly on the floor.
- No sunlight or fresh air; the solitary confinement ("fawra") takes place in a sealed room while detainees remain shackled.
5. Daily Humiliation:
- Prayer and recitation of the Quran are prohibited; prisoners are forced to curse their leaders and families.
- Deliberate degradation, even when detainees remain silent.
6. Medical Neglect:
- Complete lack of medical care; widespread skin diseases; tear gas and other irritant gases are routinely released inside the cells.
