I think she will fall back on "the importance of the passage of time," as her answer.

She's right in a way. They opened the border, and invited illegals in. Then some time passed and the illegals had become so bad for the country that cities which had proudly declared themselves to be sanctuaries for illegals cried uncle and insisted that the Border Czar do something. Just as her critics had predicted, even before all that time passed.

No word on whether she has yet found the "root cause" of illegal immigration, but with more passage of time, it may occur to her.

The border wall isn't even originally Trump's idea. He just repackaged the concept that has already been on the border all along and sold it to witless, gullible MAGAt cultroaches as some new, bright, shiny thing.
Now Harris, seeing how important supporting the ILLUSION of a physical barrier is to getting the votes she needs, has tapped this issue as one of her own policy goals.

Nobody made any rule that Trump had some copyright on the border wall.
Besides she was already out in favor of border wall funding with the bipartisan border security bill that Trump and congressional Republicans killed.
