Happy Veteran's Day!

I'm rated at 40%.

They had to take away 30% of my previous disabilities to arrive at 40%.

Oh, man! You need a better DAV Service Officer! The one hubby had was seriously devoted to folks like hubby. He was that devoted to all the Vets he worked with! It was amazing to work with him. You can choose to work with a different Service Officer. Some of them want to sit on their asses and do minimal paperwork.

Mainly because of our tactical advantages.
The problem with America is freedom allows idiot leftists to have a voice.
I remember the left constantly trying to prevent us from gaining tactical advantages that we normally would have taken advantage of if congress had declared war.
But Democrats don't believe in victory.
They only believe in endless conflict.
The NVA and the NLF fighters were motivated to defend their Country their Homes and families, the US soldiers didn't have that motivation and that was the difference, some of the Vietnamese forces had spent almost thirty years in the Jungle fighting invaders, this is the Military General who fought and defeated all invaders.

American Indians and Alaska Natives serve in the Armed Forces at five times the national average and have served with distinction in every major conflict for over 200 years. Considering the population of the U.S. is approximately 1.4 percent Native and the military is 1.7 percent Native (not including those that did not disclose their identity), Native people have the highest per-capita involvement of any population to serve in the U.S. military.

Right.

Blacks took a higher percentage of casualties than whites. I don`t know about Native Americans.
Now I know.
A lot of white people could afford college, and were able to get draft deferments, as did those with bone spurs. ;)

So the military was overrpresented by blacks and poor whites.

The VA has been getting a bad rap for a long time.

The VA where I live is nothing less than amazing. I avoided the VA for a very long time because I didn't want anything to do with anything connected to the military after I retired.

One day, though, my wife drove me to the VA against my will. She refused to take me to the facility I had been using.

I couldn't ******* believe it. The level of care was astonishing compared to the for-profit hospitals I have utilized all this time.

The VA where my brother lives across the country also takes very good care of him.

Maybe some VA's suck, but ours don't.
A friend who was in the Army for 20 years served in Iraq and recently passed, but he told me that the VA in our area was tremendous. I was left with the feeling that the military doesn`t pay much attention to the various chemicals and poisons our soldiers are exposed to because he had nearly everything wrong with him. In the steel mill we had a union and shop stewards to call on if we needed help or had questions about what we were exposed to. Apparently, you`re on your own in the U.S. military.

Exactly. Just like today's Al Qaeda. When you are dirt poor, you sign up for food and don't give a damn if you live or die.

It's very difficult to defeat that, and it is why we lost in Nam and why we lost in Afghanistan and Iraq.

But they were fighting the French.
The French are pretty much useless.
We had no business being there anyway.

When they started fighting us.....they started getting their butts kicked.

My husband would never have imagined that his Parkinson's was the result of chemical exposure during his service. His DAV Service Officer knew exactly what to do and what paperwork was necessary to get his 100% disability based on that chemical exposure, even though the exposure happened six decades prior.

For the innumerate among you, that is NOT saying there are five times as many Indians as whites, mm-kay?

That about the French is just bullshit, and yes you had no business being there, and they didn't get their arses kicked but they knew the US just could not sustain their war, one reason the US people were watching their boys dying and bleeding every night on their TV, an American Cousin of mine my Mums younger Sisters boy joined the US Marines aged 18 by all accounts he was all Gung ho, i met him once or twice when he and his family visited the UK, he served twice in Vietnam so i imagine he wanted to go back, from talking to him he came over as totally brainwashed and believed the official narrative about the so called Communist threat when the war was about the fight for National liberation and the Military Industrial complex in the US
