The Siege of Yorktown, Battle of Yorktown or Surrender at Yorktown, the latter taking place on October 19, 1781 at Yorktown, Virginia, was a decisive victory by a combined force of American Continental Army troops led by General George Washington and French Army troops led by the Comte de Rochambeau over a British Army commanded by British lord and Lieutenant General Lord Cornwallis.

French: 7,800–8,800 regulars
29 war ships
American: 8,000 regulars
3,100 militia

Total: 18,900

LOL @ the thread title: Happy July 4th - Don't forget to thank a Frechman!!!

The french surrender monkey's need to thank us for giving them back their country twice after we beat the germans in WWI and WWII ..

There's never a Frechman around when you need him.

You can just send a thank you note to the city of NEw Orleans, I'll copy it and distribute it amongst the frenchmen.

And the General:

Lafayette was a general in the American Revolutionary War and a leader of the Garde nationale during the French Revolution.

Pure speculation---we had a great Polish General too. I bet we coulda whipped the Redcoats with one arm tired behind our backs.
