I don't think so. Maybe 90% of us get wiped out but the 10% that remain will be smarter next time. They'll know we need space hotels and colonies on Mars. So when the next life ending catastophy happens on earth, we can wait it out on Mars.

You don't even comprehend all the up sides to space travel. We are running out of natural resources on earth. Companies can mine the meteor belt. There's 1000 planets worth of natural resources on those flying rocks.

Sorry to change the subject but this reminds me of something. I find it funny that today Republicans want to go to Mars suddenly. A few years ago I specifically remember USMB Republicans were against going to outer space. They thought it was a complete waste of time and money. Now because Trump wants to go to Mars, they want to go to Mars.

I'm glad they want to go to Mars I'm just pointing out how they've changed on so many issues. Today Republicans sound a lot more like us liberals in the 2000's. Don't forget Trump was a liberal back then too. He only ran as a Republican because that was his only or best way to power was first taking over the RNC. Because he would have never won the Democratic primaries. Would he? I would love to go to an alternate universe where Trump tried to run on the Democratic ticket. How would have have went.

A lot of them still think space travel is a waste of time but they'll toe the line. It might double the debt but at least we have the 10 Commandments in every class room.

I'm curious how Elon is going to do trying to increase H-B1 visas. Will they accept it because Trump tells them to? We need them. If they aren't working for us, they'll be working for Russia or China. Elon is right. In our country we worship athletes not scientists.
