the general once stood high above my city, always stiffly facing towards the north, sure as a compass.

i have a very nuanced view of the confederacy , my first cousin is a "son of the confederacy" sort of a social and mutual aid society i guess. NOT a rebel army.

some years he invites us to their annual birthday party for a local confederate hero, general beauregard., and they are of some historical interest.

i may have a better opinion of lee if he had followed longstreet's advice, but his leadership is unquestionable.
