Former FBI agent pardoned by Trump for Jan. 6 charges now serving in Justice Department: Sources
A former FBI agent accused of egging on rioters to attack police during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol is now serving in the Justice Department as part of the so-called "Weaponization Working Group," sources familiar with the appointment confirmed to ABC News.Jared Wise was on trial when he was pardoned as part of President Donald Trump's sweeping series of pardons and commutations for nearly all of the more than 1,500 individuals charged in connection with the Capitol attack.
According to sources, Wise is now serving in the department as an investigator and counselor to Ed Martin, the former interim D.C. U.S. Attorney, whose permanent nomination to the post was rejected by Republican senators concerned over his past vocal advocacy for Jan. 6 rioters and other controversial actions he took in Trump's first four months in office.

THE FACTS: After the deadly riot at the Capitol, social media users began sharing posts that blamed Pelosi for security shortfalls that allowed the building Capitol to be breached.
“It was Capitol Police that let the intruders in and it was Capitol police who killed an innocent woman that was on the opposite side of a door from that officer whom we still don’t know the name of,” said one tweet with more than 2,000 likes. “Nancy Pelosi is in charge of Capitol Police NOT Trump.”
Many of the posts falsely claiming Pelosi was responsible as leader of the House were promoted by accounts showing support for President Donald Trump.

A Jan. 6 Rioter Returned to the Capitol Seeking Forgiveness
Five years ago, Pamela Hemphill forcibly entered the Capitol as part of an angry mob of protesters who, convinced of President Trump’s lie that the 2020 election was stolen, stormed the building on Jan. 6, 2021, in a violent effort to stop Congress from certifying his defeat.On Tuesday, Ms. Hemphill, a retired addiction counselor from Idaho, entered the building again, this time to offer an emotional apology.
“Thank you for having me back to the Capitol today,” Ms. Hemphill told the panel of House Democrats who invited her to their event on the fifth anniversary of the riot. “I am deeply grateful for this chance to try to make amends.”
Ms. Hemphill, 72, served 60 days in federal prison after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of entering the Capitol during the riot.
But in the years since, she has experienced a political reversal, turning away from Mr. Trump and now seeing the Jan. 6 attack as an insurrection. When Mr. Trump issued a sweeping grant of clemency to those charged in connection with the riot, Ms. Hemphill said she was rejecting it.
“Accepting that pardon would be lying about what happened on January the 6th,” she said on Tuesday. “I am guilty. And I own that guilt.”
Trump, more than anyone, owns the guilt. He's just too much of a coward to acknowledge it.
