from the onset, let me state that the democrats also have their own problems.....but not nearly as many as the GOPers.
First, the major problem for republicans is the ever-increasing number of minority voters and, conversely, the ever-decreasing number of older, white, less-educated, evangelical (overly-religious) voters.
While not always fond of democrats, Latinos, blacks, LGBT, better educated young people seem to have more distrust of the GOP .
Second, in this year's presidential election, the expectation is for a much higher voters' turnout than what was witnessed in the 2010 and 2014 cycle.............The GOP will have to defend 28 senate seats....a huge challenge in a voters' climate that ranks used car-salespersons' ethics higher than that of congress members.
Third, the implosion that has occurred within the GOP...as witnessed by the huge number and diversity views of republican candidates for the oval office......is a growing cancer for the once grand ol' party.
