Israel and NATO countries manufacture arms.
NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) has 32 member states (as of 2025), including the U.S., Canada, most of Europe, and others. Many of these have
large, advanced defense industries.
Major NATO arms producers:
- United States – By far the largest global arms manufacturer and exporter. Companies like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman produce fighter jets (F-35, F-16), missiles, drones, and more.
- United Kingdom – Home to BAE Systems, a major global defense contractor (ships, aircraft, armored vehicles).
- France – Dassault Aviation, Thales, and Nexter produce aircraft (Rafale), tanks (Leclerc), and missiles.
- Germany – Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann build tanks (Leopard 2), artillery, and ammunition.
- Italy, Spain, Poland, Turkey, and others also have significant defense industries.
Israel is
not a NATO member, but it is a close NATO partner and one of the
top arms exporters globally.
Key Israeli defense companies:
- Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) – drones, missiles, radars, and aircraft upgrades.
- Elbit Systems – advanced electronics, UAVs, and ground systems.
- Rafael Advanced Defense Systems – known for the Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and Spike missile systems.
Israel’s defense industry is heavily export-oriented and collaborates frequently with NATO countries (especially the U.S.).
