leathered neck, still deep sun-tanned
vessels blue and red​

tomorrow morning,
dear friend's funeral is planned
while this cough seems worse

yesterday's visit
to the serene fune'ral home
dressed in fireman's blues

my little flowers
weren't very spectacular
but he favored green​

buddy my brother
showed up at sunrise to help
remove trumpet vines

my heavy coughing
caused me to continue nap
but I couldn't sleep​

bending and stretching,
compression socks tend to fix
swollen lower legs

elder issues suck
you still have mind of gazelle
when you're out of run​
