Guns don't kill people. People kill people with guns. If there were no guns at all, people would find some other way to kill people.

There is no law that will prevent criminals and crazies from getting guns. Since criminals and crazies already show no inclination to obey the laws we have, no additional law is going to persuade them.

What laws can do, is prevent the law abiding from protecting themselves from criminals and crazies with guns.

What liberals believe is that someone defending themselves will kill an assailant but there is always a chance that an assailant may not kill the victim and deserves the benefit of the doubt. Either way, there is a dead body. The dead body of the criminal is of vastly more importance than the dead body of the father and husband, or wife and mother. The criminal might be saved with the proper application of sympathy and understanding. The law abiding doesn't need to be saved.

yep, even if firearms were outlawed today and sales and manufacturing had to stop, the present inventory would last for hundreds of years. Not to mention the weapons smuggled in. Just ask Eric about how easy that is.
