‘Gulf of America’ name change now official

I don’t think even America, outside of Conservative media, will embrace Gulf of America because Trump said so.

I don’t see schools embracing it

Look at the costs for schools - all new maps and textbooks with the change. It'll costs millions of dollars to make the change. School boards will spend money on this change in red states, but not to provide access to computers for inner city school children.

Picking up the peanuts while being trampled by the elephants - again!!!

Problem is that Conservatives control the textbooks. They will make changes in textbook revisions.
Children may be taught……..Gulf of America generally known worldwide as Gulf of Mexico

Once Trump is gone, this idiocy will be abandoned

/----/ Most textbooks are online. They get updated yearly. Try and keep up.

Will DOGE can that idea?
DOGE won't have any power to can anything. All they will have power to do is collect information and recommend. The woke have been demanding changes of names of things for years now--rice, pancake syrup, sports teams etc. etc. etc.--and we've all survived nicely. I think those name changes, demanding different pronouns for people etc. have all been dumb, misguided, counter productive. I think changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico is dumb too, but if it is changed it won't change anybody's life or cost the tax payer anything.

MAGAt economic foresight, ladies and gentlemen.
Maybe. I think most of the MAGA economic foresight is spot on and will yield some good things now and in the future. The only thing that kept Biden's economy above water was Trump's tax reforms that he (Biden) was unable to reverse. (Had he been re-elected or Kamala elected, both had intended to allow those reforms to expire this year.)

But renaming the Gulf of Mexico? Don't see a lot of value in that but I could be wrong.

Gulf of America?
Doesn't that make it our problem?
Kudos to Trump for taking responsibility for one of the World's worst ecological problems~

NOAA-supported scientists announced today that this year’s Gulf of Mexico “dead zone” — an area of low to no oxygen that can kill fish and marine life — is approximately 6,705 square miles, the 12th largest zone on record in 38 years of measurement. This figure equates to more than 4 million acres of habitat potentially unavailable to fish and bottom species, an area roughly the size of New Jersey.
Doesn't the US already manage most of it?

/----/ Libtard Moonbats changing the name of a mountain is perfectly fine, though. DERP
Were any of them stupid enough to say it would cost nothing? Are you stupid enough to believe it costs nothing?

The thing is the U.S. hasn't managed well the huge amounts of nutrients--nitrogen, phosphorus, et al--draining off field crops, lawns, parks etc. all along the Mississippi from Minnesota to Louisiana but include runoff from 31 states that drain into the river.

These nutrients caused excess algae that deplete the oxygen in the water when they die creating a dead zone some say is the size of New Jersey or Massachusetts. The dead zones form every year for two or three months and are a problem world wide.

But people do care and are working on it. Hopefully a solution will be found.

As for the oil rigs in the Gulf, the ocean life loves them with all manner of critters using them as habitat.

And changing the name of the Gulf won't have any bearing on any of that.

We shall see how it plays out, as to who are the losers. you fools that voted for Kamala are the losers, you lost the EC,, the popular vote, and every swing state. YOU are the losers, deal with it.

Which is totally irrevant.

It will be interesting watching who picks up on Trumps new name

Fox News definitely will
Will the other media call it The Gulf of America or continue to use the original name?

The world will use the proper name.

Fox and the other right trash entertainers may follow Trump.

The whole thing is part and parcel to Trump’s campaign to diminish his office and make the US an international joke.

Right, and changing the name of the gulf will also not have any impact on the amount of effort the US puts into maintaining it, which was my point.

Ahhh..The Gulf of America--I'm guessing he doesn't mean SOUTH America, now does he?

The Trump administration's Interior Department said on Friday it had officially changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, and the Alaskan peak Denali to Mount McKinley.
U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the name changes as part of a flurry of executive actions hours after taking office on Monday, making good on a campaign promise.
"As directed by the President, the Gulf of Mexico will now officially be known as the Gulf of America and North America's highest peak will once again bear the name Mount McKinley," the Interior Department said in a statement.

Alaska's towering peak had been called Mount McKinley before, in honor of former U.S. President William McKinley, but was renamed Denali - meaning 'tall' in the Koyukon Indigenous language - in 1975 at the state's request.
"These changes reaffirm the Nation's commitment to preserving the extraordinary heritage of the United States and ensuring that future generations of Americans celebrate the legacy of its heroes and historic assets," the department said.

In his inaugural address on Monday, Trump said McKinley, a Republican who was president from 1897 to 1901, "made our country very rich through tariffs and through talent - he was a natural businessman." McKinley was head of the U.S. in an expansionist era, gaining Hawaii, Guam, and Puerto Rico as territories. Hawaii later became a U.S. state.
While Trump can direct the U.S. Geological Survey to change how it denotes the Gulf of Mexico, such a name change would be unlikely to be recognized internationally.

Mexico, which like the U.S. has a long coastline circling the body of water, has said the Gulf of Mexico name is internationally recognized and has been used as a maritime navigational reference going back hundreds of years.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum earlier this month jokingly suggested North America, including the United States, be renamed "Mexican America" - an historic name used on an early map of the region.

What's the difference between a gulf, a bay, and a strait?

Only in America. The rest of the world will still call it the Gulf of Mexico. Welcome to America Alone. Nobody is going to do what Trump tells them to do.

This is a game. If he can make the rest of the world call the Gulf, the Gulf of America, he thinks he can make us do ANYTHING he wants. It's not going to happen. We didn't elect this clown, YOU DID.

Nice to know he's got his priorities straight, people dying from too much violence, people being priced out of buying homes by rich "investors" buying up everything.... nope, name changes to places....

Can't have a mountain named using the local language, and anyway, a black man made it officially Denali... so, the racists weren't happy.

Drilling bans are dependent on who is in power at that time.
A new President is able to revoke previous bans.

Is Trump that stupid that he thinks he needs to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to get around a ban?
dumb like a fox, he is a lot smarter than you or any of your left wing morons, and he is making even YOUR life better, but you are too dumb to understand it.

it was named after a US president then changed by a US president, then changed back by a US president. Who cares?
