Little activity had been seen in the North Greenland ice sheets but a new study (at Rapid disintegration and weakening of ice shelves in North Greenland - Nature Communications) finds that they've lost 35% of their total volume since 1978. Just as has been seen in Antarctica, the loss of the ice sheets causes the formerly bottlenecked glaciers to radically accelerate their slide into the ocean.

Their results revealed a chilling picture: Rising ocean temperatures had caused the ice shelves holding back North Greenland's glaciers to lose more than 35% of their total volume since 1978. Most of the loss was driven by warm water melting the ice shelves from underneath, while calving events — where blocks of ice break away from the shelf as icebergs — also contributed to the reduction. And if oceans continue to warm, the shelves could be pushed into a dramatic collapse, the researchers said."

Well, if you had read the linked study or the article, you would have learned that the loss of ice from the northern ice sheets studied was unknown beforehand. It would not be present in your pretty plots even if they weren't five years old. And then there's the point that these are plots of the ice loss for all of Greenland. You could not see the three specific ice sheets studied in those data even if you wanted to.

So, what, exactly, are you claiming to be a lie?

Not exactly. Technically the ice age began ~3 million years ago and we are still in an ice age. We are not in a glacial period like they predicted. We are still in an interglacial period. But as soon as the AMOC collapses you're going to see some cold temps starting in the northern hemisphere.

Such that for every doubling of CO2 only 1C of warming will occur in the atmosphere.
