Green New Deal

“I think one way that the right does try to mischaracterize what we’re doing ....

'MISCHARACTERIZE'?

Cease Using Oil, Coal, Natural Gas, and Nuclear Power

Cease Using Fossil Fuels

Elimination of the internal combustion engine

Elimination of all cars / trucks / vans / SUVs / planes, trains, boats, etc....
*** Resulting in over 7 million Americans losing their jobs

Use of alternate sources providing 11% of our energy must begin accounting for 100% of our energy

Use of technology not even invented yet must be used

EVERY building in the US must be upgraded or Re-Built

Use of Trans-Continental - Over-Ocean Railways to eliminate use of airplanes

Forced Unionization of ALL GND-related jobs

$7 TRILLION in new debt for energy conversion - IF all this was possible, which it is NOT

$35 TRILLION in new debt to forcibly convert the US to Single Payer Health Care
*** An admission that if we stole every dime from the richest people in the US and if we steal every resource from the richest corporations in the US we would still NOT be able to even come close to paying for all of this....

THIS IS IN THE 'GREAT NEW DEAL' AND STATED BY AOC IN AN INTERVIEW.....

HOW THE HELL IS IT BEING MISCHARACTERIZED?
There are electric and ion drive planes.

Uh huh. And why is it that we haven't replaced all the fossil fuel-powered planes with those?

I won't believe any of the New Green Deal until all of those who advocate for it give up fossil fuels, cars, planes, trains, electricity, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, computers, television and every other convenience of modern industrial society.

You can't take away their BBQs!!!

No BBQs. No wood burning of any kids allowed.

if it went fast enough, you wouldn't need rails or bridges, you could put wings on it and let it fly! oh wait, Doh!!!
fastest train does what, 190? maybe they need to get a good running start from 300 miles away and they can skip across the ocean if they hit the water at just the right angle and go through a machine that speeds them up along the last 50 miles.

I think she should go for broke and just demand that we convert all travel to teleportation in the next ten years, and Scotty can just beam us all wherever.
Can you have an economy vs first class beaming?

First class gets to go first, maybe? When your atoms are reconstructed at the end of the line, they add Chanel No. 5? I dunno.
maybe in 1st class they remove 20lbs of weight and reshape you to a better image and in economy, you get that added weight dumped on you in transit. :)

There you go! That's it! That's freaking GENIUS!

What's not to like? She's a conservatives best asset.

You're not only one that's smelling it.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) said Thursday that her proposed Green New Deal would not be financed through a "massive government takeover."

"I think one way that the right does try to mischaracterize what we're doing as though it's like some kind of massive government takeover," Ocasio-Cortez said on MSNBC's "MTP Daily." "Obviously it's not that because what we're trying to do is release the investments from the federal government to mobilize those resources across the country."

Ocasio-Cortez went on to explain that the deal's rollout could take the form of public programs similar to the Tennessee Valley Authority, created in former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's original New Deal, as well as "public-private partnerships" and programs that "can work on a municipal level."

Actually, she explained in more detail how her Green New Deal would be paid for:

'How will you pay for it?
The same way we paid for the New Deal the 2008 bank bailout and extended quantitative easing programs. The same way we paid for World War II and all our current wars. The Federal Reserve can extend credit to power these projects and investments and new public banks can be created to extend credit. ...'

This is pure insanity.

In other words, she is saying the Fed will just print up whatever money is needed. $ 7 trillion? $20 trillion? Whatever.

A) this is NOT what the Fed was created to do - just blindly fund whatever projects the government wants.
B) this is NOT how almost ANY government works. When the government wants to fund something it cannot afford - IT ISSUES BONDS. If no one buys the bonds - the project does NOT go forward.
This is so that the government cannot just print ENDLESS amounts of money, any time it wishes (though, lately, the Fed has removed this safeguard by often buying the bonds themselves. But it has said time and again that this is NOT a good way forward).

Basically what she is saying is that she has NO IDEA how to pay for this and realizes that bond issuances probably won't work. So she is just asking the Federal Reserve to print trillions of dollars for her.

That is TOTALLY INSANE.

I assume you disagree (as you seem VERY taken with everything she says)...but if you do, then you do not understand how macroeconomics works.

If you start printing trillions and trillions of dollars - at will - you can kiss the US dollar goodbye as 1) the world reserve currency; and 2) it's relative value.

Let's just put Sandy in charge of US Mint. She'll be able to pay for anything possibly to imagine. Even unicorns.

We're going to need a magical unicorn breeding program to produce all of farts we'll need to fuel our UFP (unicorn fart powered) vehicles!

That technology is not yet invented. :D

Translation: Government Takeover

INSKEEP: As you know, Congresswoman, one reason that people who are politically conservative are skeptical of efforts to combat climate change is that it sounds to them like it requires massive government intervention, which they just don't like. Are you prepared to put on the table that, yes, actually, they're right, what this requires is massive government intervention?

OCASIO-CORTEZ: It does. It does. Yeah. I have no problem saying that. Why? Because we have tried their approach for 40 years. For 40 years, we tried to let the private sector take care of it. They said, we got this, we can do this, the forces of the market are going to force us to innovate. Except for the fact that there's a little thing in economics called externalities, and what that means is that a corporation can dump pollution in the river and they don't have to pay for it, and taxpayers have to pay for cleaning up our air, cleaning up our water and saving the planet.

And so we've already been paying the costs, except we have not been getting any of the benefit. And so what we're here to say is that government is not just for cleaning up other people's mess, but it's also for building solutions in places where the private sector will not.

AOC Continues To Explain Some Of Her Ideas In The 'Great New Deal'...

Granted, PJ Media is a conservative media source.

Yea...full stop

But it still is an interesting article.

No...it's not. It's slanted partisan bullshit

Fine.

Do you have a non-partisan source that estimates the cost of this program in such detail?

If not - it's pretty silly to call the conclusions erroneous otherwise.

HOW DO YOU ESTIMATE THE COST OF SOMETHING THAT'S LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DO?!

Seriously, it's like saying, "Well, do you have a non-partisan source that estimates the cost of genetically engineering flying ponies and giving one to every person?"

In perfect world of Sandy Cortez, the economy class is the 1st class.

"I think that there’s a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right.” Sandy from the Block on 60 Minutes

She needs to go back to bartending.

No! She's a walking talking billboard for Trump 2020. The more she outs the Prog Agenda of turning the U.S. into a Socialist-Slave State the better our chances of the Dems being defeated.

That she is. What a dingbat. I just can't believe voters elected that dipshit to Congress. What the hell were they thinking??

I wonder if she even realizes that if all that green crap she's pushing ever passes it will bankrupt the country??

Thank God the Reps have the Senate and none of that crap will ever pass.

What a moron.
Her district has to be the most ignorant people in the nation.

I'm just waiting for somebody to go into her district with a microphone and a camera and start asking the people what they think of the fool they elected now that she's actually started proposing things.

I'm with you. I'd like to meet some of the people who voted for this idiot. They sure didn't investigate the dingbat before they voted for her. Unless, of course, they are socialist dingbats just like her.

Laughing and mocking is NOT a strategy ... but it is the only serious response AOC & her 'Green New Deal' deserves.
Well, from your political perspective, sure. But it's very possible that, at some point, you'll need to make a strong and serious argument.

What I don't to see is a continuation of these wild swings back and forth. This ain't good for the country.
.

How in the hell do you make a strong and serious argument against the rantings of someone whose brain clearly stopped developing in third grade? I'm not even kidding. How do you debate something like this as though it's actually a real thing, beyond what we're already doing, which is pointing out how batshit, rainbow-unicorn-fart insane it is?!
As was pointed out earlier, one effective method in negotiations is to start off shooting for the stars, and winning by falling back and looking as if you capitulated.

As was also pointed out, mocking and laughing is not a strategy.
.

As I continue to point out, that doesn't tell us what you think we're supposed to say other than the obvious, which is that Occasional Cortex needs meds stronger than we currently have invented.

Speaking of 'technology that does not exist', in an interview yesterday AOC demanded that NASA or 'other rocket scientists' actually create a microwave that will DO what it SAYS it will do.....

The Green New Deal literally demands the invention of perpetual motion.

"Upgrade or replace every building in US for state-of-the-art energy efficiency"

There literally is no efficient way to do this. None.

I wonder if the dumb bitch is aware it takes petroleum to make the foam insulation that is the most effective on the market? Also lubricants to keep all those electric motors, transmissions and wheels lubricated. How does she propose to make the tires?

.

I get the distinct impression she has no idea where electricity actually comes from.

I don't think she has any idea of physics or reality. She lives in a retards never never land.

.

Well, yeah. She lives in New York (retard's Never Never Land), where one works for a year tending bar and then runs for public office and takes over the US economy. What possible connection with reality would she have?
