Bruce R. McConkie Deep Doctrine of the Church and fullness in 12 minutes... Enjoy!

He said there are no secrets in the Mormon church. There may not be any secrets in the one he goes to, but he hasn't been to the one around here.

Bruce R McConkie was an Apostle of the Lord. One of the General Authorities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Why do you use Mormon Church? It's not Mormon's church. It's Jesus Christ's Church. And no, there are no secrets. The ordinances performed are sacred. We don't discuss them. Their are things we learn when we attend that clarify things in the Bible. You are welcome to attend. Just get baptized and be a member for a year.

Again, nothing secret. Anyone can see. Just have to be baptized, a member for a year and in good standing.

It is becoming more challenging to see people join the church as they are bombarded with all kinds of misinformation and misinterpretations.

The central feature of the Church of Jesus Christ is the Savior himself. His Atonement not only saves us from the consequences of sin (justification) but can purify our souls to qualify for Eternal Live (sanctification).

I love Moroni 10:32-33

32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.

33 And again, if ye by the grace of God are perfect in Christ, and deny not his power, then are ye sanctified in Christ by the grace of God, through the shedding of the blood of Christ, which is in the covenant of the Father unto the remission of your sins, that ye become holy, without spot.

Stepping away from the "Law of Moses" type of stuff (yes, I understand the Word of Wisdom...I don't drink coffee, but I eat enough sugar to kill a horse and I weigh 300 lbs), the goal is to attain the "stature of Christ" meaning to bind yourself to him through covenants and experience the wonder and joy associated with being redeemed and more.

Great. I have a car to sell you. All you have to do is commit to buying it, sign the papers and pay for insurance and make notes on it for a year. After a year, I'll let you know how much it will cost and what the interest rate is. No secrets, right? You wouldn't take that deal on a car. Committing to a religion is a lot more important than a car.

It's because keeping your baptismal covenants are important. Keeping the temple covenants is a greater commitment with greater eternal damnation for breaking them. So, the Lord wants to make sure you are really committed to the true Gospel of Jesus Christ before making those commitments. Because you are right. It's much more important than a car and a stupid attempt at an analogy.

And that's why they have so many secrets. Thank, but I prefer to know the terms of the deal from the start.
