Grading the Final Presidential Debate

Ha, McCain was all about eye contact tonight. When he looked at Obama and proclaimed, "Senator Obama, I am not President Bush," I smiled a bit. McCain still has a long way to go to earn my vote back, but tonight was a start. I'd say he's 2 for 3 in the debates. The first debate was a stalemate.

I love how you put up one of the few people who think McCain won, so who cares? Give it up son, your boy is DONE! And I love it!!!!!!!

We shall see in November. Now what is great being a Republican is all I can do is win. I can not lose, you turds been claiming for months it was in the bag.

Sarge, Georgia is becoming a swing state, Obama is doing so well. It's in the bag. It's over.

I like Obama. And I hope he wins. However, I saw snippets of the debate (didn't get it down here), and there were a couple of times where Obama should have gone for the jugular and he didn't. Not in a nasty way, but in a way to get his point across. He needs to be more assertive, especially with a recession looming.

People bag Jimmy Carter because they think he was ineffective. He wasn't ineffective, he got voted in during a recession. Same thing is gonna happen with Obama. he needs to get his head sorted...quickly...or he'll be a one-term president. And we know what happened after Carter. Up until the end of his term, one of the worst presidencies in American history - Ronnie Raygun....

I detest Obama and I hope for my sake and the sake of the country that he loses...

He is being exposed more and more for his socialist style wealth redistribution and his flat out lying about 'tax cuts'... Though many brain dead Obamabots will still go on style over substance, and fall in to his blank canvas trap where they pain whatever 'hope' they want onto him, whether it is trtuly to be attributed to Obama or not

As for Carter... he was a MAJOR cause for the recession... he was ineffective, especially on foreign policy where he may have been the worst president in modern times

McCain did very well in this debate... the only debate so far where I believe him to be the clear winner... could have still done better, but he still came out on top... I'd give him a solid B+ for the debate... Obama more like a C

What lie about tax cuts, DD? The only lie I heard on that was from McCain.

This was pretty funny:
In politics it is generally not considered a good sign when voters are laughing at you, not with you. And by the end of the third and last presidential debate, the undecided voters who had gathered in Denver for Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg's focus group were "audibly snickering" at John McCain's grimaces, eye-bulging, and repeated references to "Joe the Plumber."

I AGREE! Obama the Socialist is BAD!! Just look how much rampant capitalism has saved the world!!

When are you conservative, "it's all about me", "greed is go(o)d", "socialism sux", the rich rule dickheads going to learn that 1) Capitalism in its truist form not only sux, but is destructive; 2) that the fuckwits you support (the super rich - because trust me bucko, the only winners in a super capitalist society are the super rich) don't give a fuck about you, and rely on your almost Stepford devotion to keep them in the black, all the while laughing at your struggling arse!

What lies about the tax cuts? Are you serious... first the statements of "95% will see lower taxes"... Obama carefully omits the impact of corporate tax's impact on the public, omits that 40% or so don't pay taxes anyway, hence there can be no 'cut', rather a wealth redistribution entitlement which is stinking of socialism.... the misinformation on Obama's tax plan is staggering

But he does like to use the fear... and the lures... right out of the 'Rules for Radicals' playbook

What right do you have to the fruits of someone else's labors? Funny that we live in a country and society that is supposed to be based on freedom and liberty... with those freedoms and liberties comes the possibility of success AND the possibility of failure... but that is held within the cost of your freedom...

The freaking avarice of the greedy entitlement junkies is still amazing to me... the thought that the world or society actually owes you something... you want success, fucking EARN it, work for it, make good decisions.. and if you make bad decisions in your freedom of choice, fucking live with it

Supposedly, it's 81% when you factor in reinstating the capital gains tax.

I think McCain's repeated lie about small businesses being taxed is much worse. It actually shows that McCain knows absolutely nothing about the economy. He still can't grasp the fact that small businesses pay no taxes, taxes are only paid on the personal income of the business owner and employees.

I read this morning that "Joe the Plumber" isn't even registered to vote.

Wow, being in the dumps is something to be proud about.

Sort of like McFumbles saying, We got them right where we want them.

And that is even a snarky retort by the DEM supporters who are trying to give up an inch, because they don't want the entire picture to be seen.... the impact is much more wide spread... and don't forget all the other programs and govt expansion he wants that are not included in his little tax plan, which have to be paid for either with increased debt/deficit, or increased taxes

You know the one thing I find striking about this whole presidential election cycle and the just the last several years in general is the willingness to run to principles of government that this country once found abhorent. It constantly amazes me , as I watched a focus group comment on the debate last night when people were chanting about how good it was that we redistribute wealth. I'm frankly not surprised by any of this as it would not surprise me at all if most Americans did not even have a clue who Carl Marx was and to that end most would think he was a celebrity of some sort. The other interesting aspect of this is the utter cluelessness on behalf of the average person so willing to punish the rich to get that tax cut when they have no idea that the rich are the very same people who give them the job they have. So I sit here and wonder how good a tax cut is going to be when you have no job for your taxes to be cut? Just about every single business owner I know has told me that when their taxes go up , two things will happen, one they will pass along any rise in costs to the consumer, i.e you and me and two any additional overhead means layoffs. So who won the debate last night, IMHO , it does not matter until the American people realize that this country was founded on the principles of hard work, self reliance, and individual responsibility and not a government who's job it is to take care of every single need and want without earning it.

When did he lose your vote? Last I heard you were staunchly in his camp, because you liked Palin, did you switch to obama?

Jon Stewart made the point to Ari Fleischer a couple nights ago that since we have now nationalized the banks, that we are more socialist than ever. This was Bush''s insistence, to nationalize the banks (and the bailout and etc).

What do you think of Stewart's take on that? Is Bush a socialist?

:clap2:

But by the same token corporate thieves should not be allowed to prosper at the expense of honest americans.

And, hard working americans should not need to pay higher taxes to bail out the finanical mess that they did not create.

You can't have it work at one extreme or the other, there has to be some regulation, imo, with a healthy dose of capitalism.

I am guessing that most people actually agree with this and it is a matter of degree to what extent people thinnk the regulation should be put in place.
