Do you have an example of taking it too far?

Just off the top of my head, abortion comes to mind. The SC makes their ruling then, all of a sudden, total abortion bans pop up, some not even accounting for rape, incest, or the life of the mother. Now, I realize that doesn't have much to do with schools but we don't need creationism taught in public schools either, or evolution being banned from being taught in schools. Most people just can't seem to understand that creationism (to some extent) and evolution are not mutually exclusive. There can be an element of a form of creationism, followed by evolution. Neither side seems to accept that that is possible.
