One must occasionally be reminded that Government, by its very nature, is incompetent, and should not be trusted to do anything important ("Socialized Medicine" comes to mind).

Here we have the case of a police officer who worked enough overtime hours to earn $400,000 in a year, and NO ONE NOTICED!!!!!

None of his supervisors, none of his peers, no one in Payroll(!). No auditor, no one at the Motor Pool.

This COULD NEVER HAPPEN in the private sector. Heads would roll.

And yet there are thousands of such examples in the Public Sector, all over the country.

Socialized Medicine. Get serious. Look at Canada and see how their Covid response is working out.

A. There are good reasons why no one in a position of responsibility should work 90 hours a week.

B. Of course it can happen in the private sector.

People private and public have been riding the overtime pony since overtime pay began. This is nothing new, and you are talking about Seattle, at that.

when i was carrying mail during christmas time when we had that useless political mail we worked a minimum of 2 hours to a max of 4 hours OT a day whether you liked it or not.....lots of big checks during that time....but it gets old quick....

Okay, what's your solution? And don't make the claim that the private sector is any better. Most government jobs are contracted out to the private contactors.
