If this were about healthcare or helping people, caregivers wouldn't be swayed by such a bigoted target for discrimination. If this is a lie or a denial of your perceived "truth," what other patients' delusions would cause you to destroy the essence of their entire charity? A child with cancer wants to be called a tiger?

I'm concerned this "free" facility may have another agenda.

The only person to file a complaint was the state of New York, not one patient, not one family member asked the nuns to compromise their religious right and religious freedom, in a facility ran buy a religious organization that takes no money from the state or federal government, that has been there offering care from those dying of cancer. For 124 years.

I think the last thing on a dying patients mind is their gender identification, and if that is the case maybe they would find a state run facility more suited to their ideals.

Not sure why religions need to compromise their religious first amendment rights. They should just shut down sell off the property and add more financial burden to the state of New York.

I don't support the application of the law as the Nun's have not refused charitable treatment and I respect what they do. Dealing with hospice situations is not easy.

They've got a very good 1st Amendment case and the application of the law would likely be exempted for their circumstances.

EDIT: Pull up the site, its a pretty big place. It looks really nice for a Hospice. looks like its primarily for cancer patients.

I dislike Hochul. I see that law as just mindless woke posturing by the NY Dims.

The bureaucrats who enforce the laws on these things sent out a letter to all such facilities, not just the religious ones. Naturally, that general advisory included the list of possible consequences resulting from violation of the law.

Then, the facility filed a suit against the State.

While the law is unlikely to be found enforceable against the Sisters, there is no factual basis for the claim that Hochul made any threat at all.
