Republican Party leaders are becoming more and more frustrated with Donald Trump. They are afraid of what he will say next, and worse yet, they fear the nation’s voters’ reaction when his supporters begin parroting his offensive nonsense. Party leaders have watched helplessly as Trump’s insanity has stolen their voter base.
Unfortunately, the Republican establishment still refuses to admit their complicity in Trump’s rise, and that his success is due to the GOP’s decades of brainwashing their right wing base courtesy of their ever efficient propaganda machine.
There is a reason FOX News is at the top of the ratings, it is not because FOX is a source of truth, but because FOX News, like Rush Limbaugh and others like him tell their conservative audiences exactly what they want to hear. Facts, actual history, and accurate numbers are rarely included in their shpiel and are quite unimportant to their fans.
Unlike people of reason who use facts and analytical thought to make decisions, and receive their news from the less popular, reliable sources, conservatives have varying levels of self-doubt and rely on a daily, sometimes hourly, dose of emotionally comforting propaganda to remain reassured their intolerance and narrow-minded views are acceptable.
Trump’s racism and hate-speech provides this emotional comfort right-wingers need so badly, even better that FOX and the rest. This is the reason Trump supporters defend The Donald’s inability to self-censor his obscene and obnoxious views, because his views mirror their own.
Republican leaders might complain about “political correctness”, but they know the vast majority of Americans want their politicians to show respect for others, even if that respect is insincere. This is beyond the understanding of Trump and his minions.
GOP leaders understand this and are frustrated that Trump’s antics have put the White House beyond reach, and could lose them the Senate. However, they only have themselves to blame for creating a conservative mindset that would permit a Trump campaign to get this far.
GOP could be near Trump breaking point; frustration abounds
