I want to donate some money to military charities...

Our military websites should have the ending "gov" which everyone recognizes, the green lighting & "s" next to the "http" should appear which suggests that the site is secure, and the sites should have right on them a way to donate to military charities like the wives and family of late veterans!!

I'm a supporter and an active participant in the WWP. Another worthwhile charity for families to stay close to their hospitalized loved ones is Ronald McDonald house.

WWP Website

Thanks for that info Hoss!

A charity that could be donated to right on a secure direct military site, like if the US Army's URL was: www dot usarmy dot GOV would give it more officiality.

Don't believe a military charity would be able to use the .mil suffix...

... unless they were run and manned by a branch of the service...

... most charities have the .org (for non-profit organization) suffix...

...I would be suspicious of a charity with the .com suffix...

... as that is for commercial institutions...

... for example: Military and Veteran Benefits, News, Veteran Jobs | Military.com

I'm leaving the site (USMB) if you don't hear from me walt, but I meant that our military's official sites should have "httpS" & GOV to make more people feel secure that it is really an official military site.

And then on that site, a way to directly donate to widows & families of deceased veterans.

I believe the domain suffix for military is .mil.

Didn't see the "s" next to the "http"..."httpS" and GOV on an official military site would make more people feel secure to donate on an official military site!

Both these charities are very secure and I give to them every month via my checking account. Been giving for at least 15 years. They both serve the military but they're not official military sites. Therefore .org and .com. When you hit the 'Donate' button you will get https.

After this story:

How the Red Cross Raised Half a Billion Dollars for Haiti and Built Six Homes

I'd only donate to a gov with immediate https official military site! Hopefully something like that happens...

I don't know of any .gov or .mil sites that are connected to charities. As for the Red Cross, I wouldn't give them a cent for any reason.
