Going to buy a Kia SUV

Infinity and genesis the nicest

Hyundai looked mediocre

Acura over priced

Kia looked terrific for 35-45,000

Kia Sportage X pro

Or

Kia Sorrento

I’ve only owned one Kia in my lifetime. A 2007 bought when it was 3 years old. I had zero problems with it after putting 100,000 miles on it. I may be the exception to the rule, but it served me well.

i personally would be influenced by their 100k mile drivetrain warranty. If you like the features and the price is right, go for it. Hope the engine blows up at 95k. Both the car mags and Consumer Reports are fine with Kia.
The new Kia cars are total junk with abysmal long term reliability.
Car magazines and Consumer Reports are paid big money by auto manufacturing companies to say great things about their cars.
Why not save yourself future problems and grief and just buy a Toyota.
There is a reason that Toyota is the #1 selling car in the world and also in America.
Toyota reliability is legendary, and they have great resale value. ..

Buy a two year old and save yourself some money.
Smart man.
I never buy a new car.
As soon as you drive your brand new car off the dealers lot.
Your new car has lost around 25% of its value.
I always buy a 2 or 3 year old very low milage used car from the owner, not a dealership. I also buy a CarFax history report for $10 bucks to make sure the cars never been in a wreck. If it has, don't buy it.
By low milage, I'm talking about no more than 30,000 miles, hopefully even far less. A car like that will still look and drive like new.
By doing this you can save 40% to 50% of what a new car would cost.

I sold new/used cars for a few years. We had this incredibly wealthy individual who bought 2 year old used cars. Said buying new was the dumbest thing known to man for the very reason you posted. I’ve never bought a new car since.

I did, and it has been nothing but problems.
But, the check engine light works great. :113:
I haven't had any problems with mine.

Had a Kia Spectra, timing belt jumped, ruined engine, totaled. Before that it was pretty reliable. I don't know if any of those models have timing chains but, if so, I'd prefer that.
I've heard the same about some Hondas. Those were 90's models, so I'm. It sure if it still applies.

I would SO want a Jeep...if not for the atrocious MPG.
Well that depends on which one you get. The two wheel drive Grand Cherokee is available with a ten speed transmission. The jeep I have all the miles on is a Liberty. Ya the gas mileage sucks on it. I have both but I am a hunting and fishing guide. Thus means I spend a good amount of time covered in mud and guts. My Libby is the perfect hunting and fishing vehicle. That four wheel drive and nearly 0 turn radius is perfect for my situation. I am so use to driving it I sometimes forget I even have the Cherokee.

I have a jeep that has over 290k miles on it. Most I ever spent on fixing it was a ball joint replacement. Still going strong.
I had a 96 Grand Cherokee that went 345K with minimal maintenance, so I bought a 2011 Grand with a Hemi to tow.
Besides constant electrical and dual climate issues, two lifters failed and fried the engine at 150K. Thank god it came with lifetime powertrain and Jeep covered the 11 Grand.
To top it off, last summer wife's Cherokee fried the head at 130K, and luckily she also had a lifetime powertrain. They covered it. But now those warranties are done as the stipulation is once repairs reach current market value, coverage is done.

I love how my Jeep drives and tows, and in winter the thing is awesome. But I am reconsidering any future purchases, especially since Fiat bought them out.

I'm about to purchase a used LX470. Look into them before you buy a vehicle that will lose value the moment you drive off the lot.

I want a hybrid
Big mistake if you buy a hybrid. .. :(
Sure they get great gas milage and many are nice cars.
But after the warranty runs out and your hybrid needs repairs.
It's going to cost you a ton of money to get it fixed.
The parts needed to repair a hybrid are very expensive.
Plus, you'll have to take a hybrid to the dealership for any repairs.
And everyone knows dealerships charge an arm and a leg for car repair.
Because no Independent auto repair shop will work on a hybrid.
The reason is the hybrid's electrical/electronics takes specialized training and expensive scopes and tools to diagnose and repair problems.

The only thing Jeep about the new ones being sold today is the name JEEP on the vehicle.
Jeep is owned by the Italian car company Fiat.
Fiat cars are such an unreliable piece of junk that almost all of their dealerships in the U.S. have closed due to no one buying them.
Sadly, the Jeep's sold today have the pathetic Fiat engines and transmissions.

Can't believe the sticker price in the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
110 Grand.
Ridiculous.

A friend just got screwed on a Ford Explorer repair on her 2016.
Water pump failed, but for 8 years Ford mounted them internally inside the engine.
Cost her 4,500 to repair as it is tied into the timing chain which also needs replacement when the pump goes.
Stupid design. Should be one of the simplest things to repair.

Every time I bust my own knuckles on repairs that I can do I curse car engineers and hope they rot in Hell.

So stupid it's almost hard to believe they'd design an engine with an internal engine water pump. .. :cuckoo:

But then again, every car today has the fuel pump located inside the gas tank. That isn't a cheap repair if you're having to pay a mechanic to replace a bad fuel pump..
Back in the day when I grew up. The fuel pump was located under the hood next the firewall.
It was a 10 minute job to replace the fuel pump.

Bought the first wife a Kia Forte in 2010.

It was not a good car. Fun to drive, had monster takeoff speed but was uncomfortable, loud as hell road noise and brake problems.
She hated it so bad we traded it in less than 2 years later for a Ford Escape.

I had intended to help her with the water pump, but then looked on YouTube and had to tell her it was way beyond what I could do. Right away you could find nightmare videos and people pissed off. Half the engine has to come apart.
Ford got sued for that one and now Ford has changed the design.
