Matthew, Matthew, Matthew. Isn't it obvious? For this to have taken place, the Arctic must be chock-a-block full of ice - more ice than any of these scientists driving these icebreakers imagined. This is ABSOLUTE PROOF that the ice in the Arctic isn't disappearing. The people who claim to have satellites taking pictures: they lie. Ever seen their satellites? Didn't think so. They just sit behind their computers making up new bogus images each day to scare us because liberals LIKE to scare people because they have such small testicles. And each and every one (liberal) is an enemy of the United States, cause they hate the freedom that the US Constitution gives - it prevents them from tyrannizing the populace the way they'd like to. Funniest part is that Abraham and Matthew are so friggin mad about this happening...
These clods probably planned expedition last year when the ice looked friendlier.. Couldn't change the date because it commemorates some AntArctic exploration.. Severly underestimated the risk of getting of getting iced in the peak summertime.. If this was the original expedition -- they'd be goners..

I read there were a few scientist/passengers on the cruise ship, but it was NOT a research voyage and the scientists aboard had NOTHING to do with planning the route or its timing. Likewise, the icebreakers attempting to rescue the stuck cruise ship were just that: icebreakers: commercial vessels providing services for others, not research vessels.

Try outside your favorite leftist sources.. OR you could read the guardian article I posted in the PRIOR thread about this adventure. They have 2 journalists trapped on ship who were sent BECAUSE this is scientific expedition to commemorate some historical event...

Although trapped for the moment, the scientists are continuing their experiments. They have been measuring temperature and salinity through cracks in the surrounding ice.

It is a research vessel on a research voyage, although it did have some adventurous passengers. This isn't Carnival!

From all reports, they are adequately provisioned and still carrying out research projects.

What's disturbing about this, is that normally the Antarctic is pretty much ice free in the summer.

It's something AGW theory predicted years ago, the increasing Antarctic Sea Ice. See page 795 of this 1991 paper, where it says "The sea ice thickness in the G integration increases".
